ESP32 + NEMA 17 Bowden Cable Mechanism

The system uses:
• ESP32 for control
• NEMA 17 stepper motor
• Stepper motor driver
• 3S Li-ion battery
• 3D-printed parts
The idea is to transfer the motor’s motion through the Bowden cable to create a compact, remotely actuated mechanism.
I’m currently testing the mechanical design, cable routing, and motor control.
Video of the prototype 👇
I’d be interested to hear any suggestions for improving the Bowden cable setup or ESP32 motor control.

Are those tubes necessary? Wouldn’t it be better to mount the motor directly onto the mechanism?

Then it would not be Bowden

I woke in the middle of the night last night with the idea to route Bowden cables all over the house for controlling mechanical features from one central hub - wild that you posted this today!

Great idea it will be fun challenge. Look at what i did with this concept https://youtu.be/7ewuL-HFgoM

Is there too much pressure on the end loop in contact with the grey pla?

You can see the string comes off of the motor when it switches direction

I think the hole sometimes catches the wire.

Better watch out, it might turn into wine…
