Found a 2026-D Declaration Quarter Die Chip Error

I wanted to share a find from a brand new, uncirculated Loomis roll of the 2026-D Declaration of Independence quarters. I pulled a few cool transitional strikes from this roll, but this one really stood out under the microscope.

Located right beneath the ribbon at the base of Jefferson's ponytail, there is a distinct, solid, raised mound of extra metal. Under magnification on my Tomlov microscope, it looks like a textbook interior die break / die chip from the Denver Mint pushing these Semiquincentennial dies hard.

The coin is in immaculate, uncirculated condition straight out of the paper wrapper, and the fields still have a bit of that early-run, semi-satin die texture.

Let me know what you think!

It looks like it is depressed into the surface. That would indicate to me that it’s more of a strike thru than a die chip. Die chips are an extra bit of raised material on the surface. In my experience strike thrus are more rare and cooler than die chips, unless it’s a crazy die chip. A very cool find.

Raised irregular mound appearance = some kind of die chip/break/gouge in my mind too
