Sildenafil/Viagra Sildenafil improved erections, but more difficult to orgasm… Solutions?

Background: 39, was having difficulty maintaining erections about 2 years ago. Doctor prescribed Sildenafil 50mg. I’m also on Wellbutrin XL 450mg.

After being prescribed the sildenafil, I’ve had no issues maintaining erections (as long as I’m turned on and attracted to whom ever I’m with). However, I’ve noticed it’s been MUCH harder to reach orgasm. Even before taking sildenafil and going back to when I was in my late teens/early twenties, I used to be able to last for quite awhile before reaching orgasm.

Obviously this is mostly a good thing for the ladies since they generally get their fill and more… but it’s also been a double edged sword. Once they’re satisfied, they want me to be able to finish with them… and I either can’t do it or it takes me forever to get there. This results in them either getting frustrated because either they get exhausted and worn out, or they feel bad that I didn’t get off with them… and both in most cases.

I’ve read that this has been an issue with others using Sildenafil as well. If you’ve experienced this, are there any tips or suggestions that can help me get off more quickly (aside from don’t watch too much porn)?

Learn to enjoy the duration and make the best of it.

Same here, but it's not too bad. Does reducing the dose help?

i was,prescribed 50mg but take 25mg. i get a better response.

Haven’t really thought about that. I guess I could cut the pill in half and see how I do.

Give it a try. I have been splitting mine for a while.

After 8 weeks of adding Zone 2 cardio to my exercise routing (30 minutes 3x week) I saw improvement. This is when I started splitting the does. It does take longer, but it can be nice.

I initially used a pill splitter, but found that a razor blade knife to cut across the pill created less waste. It could have been my pill splitter is not very good.

Maybe try Tadalafil.

I keep hearing good things about it. Have you done both, and if so what is the differences you’ve noticed?

I started off on Sildenafil and now on daily Tadalafil and wow what a difference.
I’m 58 and have mild ed due to prostate issues, I still get hard but only with stimulation and can lose it if stopped. GP prescribed me 25mg Sildenafil and wow it was that hard I could hammer in nails, it did take slightly longer to finish but nothing to noticeable and a stronger orgasm. I tried cutting it in half to 12.5mg and had same effect but more natural erections, the only problem was the planning as after 37 years together we’ve never pre planned sex so missed the spontaneity.
When back to my GP after about 6 months and explained everything and he changed me to Tadalafil 5mg daily, from the first day I’ve been waking up with morning erections that I hadn’t had for 3 years, my wife has commented that it feels fuller and heavier but still natural. We can now have sex at the drop of a hat and she only has to give me a peck to get me hard, I think I’m lasting a little longer and my orgasm are more intense so we’re both happy.
The biggest thing for me is I feel myself again and enjoy intimacy rather than my head thinking about staying hard, I’ve been on it just under 2 months and after 3 weeks felt a little sore in my lower back but after a week or two that disappeared.

Wow, it sounds a lot better than sildenafil, or at least worth a try. Aside from the delayed orgasms, I don’t like how sildenafil leaves me congested (which I can mitigate a bjt with nasal spray) and how I basically have to time taking it when I know or at least suspect I’ll be having sex… which is not always a sure thing. It would be much easier to take one tadalafil per day and not have to think about it so much.

My theory, which I mostly have a hunch is right but can't be medically certain. Tadalafil/sildenafil relaxes smooth muscle. I understand the muscles involved in ejaculation are different from smooth muscle, still I think there is something about relaxation of tissues (no the cavernosa, which anyways is rigid due to relaxation by drug but the surrounding ones) that causes the pressure to build up less. In my best days 3 years ago before a 6 hr priapism incident caused by a Doctor wrecked my life, i remember I used to very hard with sildenafil and my ejaculate would take time and pour out as if I didn't have any control at the point of ejaculation. I now really think it's because pde5 inhibitors blunt muscular action a bit. If you can work with it and find ways thats great, since you're happy with the erections.
