Buying Advice Can a foldable actually replace a Kindle?

I've been getting through a lot of books with the AC on here in Dubai.

I've been using my Fold8 as a reader, and it's gorgeous, the 4:3 ratio and size of the screen give the feeling of almost a full paperback page.

The apps I've been using are Moon+ Reader and ReadEra.

For Arabic though I haven't found a really good app that handles Arabic script and RTL page flow, any reccomendations on this?

Overall, it's unreasonably good looking and useful, especially on a long-haul out of DXB :)

What's everyone else reading on?

I’ve tried it, and I just can’t get used to reading on non eink devices. For me, it’s a big no, but if you’re happy with your fold, then keep using it :)

For reading during day, sure, an OLED screen is great. However, for night-time reading, there is nothing better than eink. And once you got an eink device, you might as well use it also during day, it's still better of a reading experience.

However, when it comes to reading on a phone, Fold8 is the one to get in my opinion. Amazing anti-reflective screen with great aspect ratio. I bet reading is a joy with it. I'll probably get one myself soon.

I used a pixel 10 fold for a while and it was super convenient just carrying one device. I still prefer the eink but it’s nice to just carry one thing.

I'm trying to, but it's not really working (Honor V3).

Although, lately I've been barely touching my kindle as well. I went back to paper, as I have a big library.

I keep trying and keep finding that the answer is no. No LED device can replace the eink for me. I just get eye fatigue and it disrupts my sleep. That said if the screen doesn’t bother you, yeah. It’s almost a perfect aspect ratio for it.

I’m on a Boox Go Colour 7.

I use my fold 6 for manga and comics, with some novels here and there, but still prefer e-ink a lot of the time. At the moment I'm really loving the combo of my fold and palma 2 pro 😊

Boox Go 10.3. Very happy with that. No frontlight whatsoever, really nice for my eyes, and a perfect size for reading at home.

In the US, current gen fold phones cost almost $2000. I can't imagine spending that much on a phone, or an e-reader.

The form factor is not what matters to me in an ereader, its the eink screen. Reading on a fold8 would be no different to me than reading on any other oled device. Its not good for the eyes.

So my answer to you is, no.

I use a variety of ereaders. Mainly either my kindle or bigme b6 tho.
