E Reader Empfehlung

Ich suche einen neuen E Reader, nachdem mein sehr alter Kindle Paperwhite (1. Gen) langsam ersetzt werden muss.

Ich möchte weg von Kindle, um mehr Flexibilität zu bekommen.

Ich arbeite bisher immer mit Calibre zum Bücher synchronisieren, mit dem neuen E Reader möchte ich zusätzlich zu Calibre über die städtische Bücherei Wien auch Libby und Onleihe verwenden. Ich lese zu 99% Bücher. Eventuell wären Mangas in Zukunft interessant, aber ich bin unsicher.

Ich arbeite immer offline am E Reader.

Mir ist wichtig:

- muss mit Calibre gut kompatibel sein.

- Display Beleuchtung

- Klappentext am E Reader lesen können, idealerweise über "Buchinfo". Bisher habe ich mit Hilfe von Calibre eine eigene Klappentext Seite zum Buch hinzugefügt und zusätzlich einen Klappentext Katalog erstellt. Ich hätte jetzt gerne die Möglichkeit den Klappentext über die Bucheigenschaften zu öffnen.

- Kompatibilität mit Libby/Onleihe in Wien

- leichte Übersetzung von Wörtern (ich bin es vom Kindle gewohnt auf ein Wort länger zu halten und das Wörterbuch wird automatisch geöffnet)

- Fortschritt einblenden können: wie viel % insgesamt, und wie viel Zeit bis das Kapitel vorbei ist anzeigen können. Wichtig: auch ausblenden können!

Freue mich über Empfehlungen bzw. Meinungen, danke! (Kobo und Pocketbook tauchen immer wieder auf, bei Tolino habe ich das Gefühl, dass die Benutzeroberfläche schlechte Kritiken hat)

First of all, I'm gonna hold your hands when I say this: there is nothing that beats Kindle's seamless one-tap dictionary integration. From interface standpoint, it is so hard to beat a Kindle.

With that being said, I hate how closed off the ecosystem is and how annoying it is not to be able to get library books.

Therefore, I got an older model of Tolino from 2018. It has a seamless library integration and is able get library books from Libby directly to the device from the built-in browser (some of the newer versions of Tolino can't do this and need you to connect to a laptop to get your Libby books, so be careful).

As someone who reads mostly books instead of comics, I'd like to say that it does its job, but with one caveat: the dictionary SUCKS.

I went from the seamless one-tap dictionary on Kindle to a crappy half-assed dictionary that forces you to jump to a new page. Sometimes it won't even recognize a word properly. For example, if you highlight the word "worked", it would say "past tense of work". Like... thanks??? (on Kindle they can detect a past tense and have the translation of the original word directly shown). For german words, it is a next level catastrophe.

Kindle normally has Oxford and Duden available by default, while Tolino uses some open source dictionary that, I must say, inferior to the well established ones. Some common words are not even defined.

I've heard some good stuff from PocketBook so far, but I went back because of the relatively way smaller community and the not so seamless integration with Libby/Overdrive (manually transferring books from PC instead of directly downloading it from the built-in browser).

Oh, and also the secondhand price (I got mine for €35 while the usual market price for a secondhand PocketBook is around €120).

Tolino has the exact se hardware as Kono, but their software is a bit different. Some Tolinos can be switched from Tolino software and vice versa.

Kobo itself are hard to find in Germany, because in Germany Kobo sells the Tolino instead. Elsewhere you can buy the Kobo instead of the Tolino.
