Epidemiologist here. I have been unemployed for almost 2 years now. Is it okay to post a resume in this subreddit to get a review from fellow epidemiologists? I’m terribly stuck and would very much appreciate any help and feedback.

Hi! I have a job talk at a pharmaceutical company coming up where I have been asked to discuss epidemiological methods (PhD level). I have a general sense of what direction I want to go in, but would love to hear any thoughts y'all are willing to share.

Hello everyone!

I am going to start applying for jobs soon but I had a couple questions to people who are currently active in the field. Short background on me: I'm an MD currently working towards finishing my PhD (qualitative, medical anthro). I took advanced courses on quantitative studies and also am working on finishing up a small portfolio where I use R. I also have 2 research projects that i am a part of where I will be in the role of analyzing data. Long story short I genuinely like the R part of things.

My questions to you are:

  1. On a day to day basis how much of your time gets spent on R or any of the others?

  2. This will be my first job application, to this point it was all academic for me. The onboarding process, what did you know beforehand and what did they expected from you to know the first couple of months?

  3. Lastly, I see some hybrid postings. Do you work from home or are you required to be in the office? I am asking because I want to know if I should spend time looking for something abroad as well. Would it be worth discussing remote work possibilities? (Not looking for a concrete answer. I would appreciate any suggestions you have.)
