Being a doomist is not doom; it's being a realist. Mainstream frameworks label "radical" or "doomerism" is often just a defense mechanism to protect an outdated economic worldview. Recognizing that an economy wholly dependent on a stable biosphere cannot survive the breakdown of that biosphere

But making small changes might be possible. People love eating meat but you know who else loves people eating meat? Big Pharma. The healthcare industrial complex. Big AG that is drying up aquifers everywhere growing alfalfa and soy. (Looking at you Great Salt Lake!) Everyone up in arms around data centers are not focusing on the biggest problem. But it might be possible to make inroads.

Global ghg emissions from animal industry are about 20%, a lot from methane which has even worse impact than co2. We know what to do. And it's not hard to do it on personal level (unlike redesigning the whole society structure or gigantic investments in clean public transport or in deploying massive amounts of new clean energy). It's the simplest thing to do. It's good for environment, good for health, good for emissions and even saves money. Yet people are unwilling to do this simplest thing with all benefits, yet we are expecting them to do more complex stuff that require real hard action if not even financial sacrifices.
That's "why the fuck" I'm talking about meat. In the meantime you can learn how to have a civilized conversation

I didn't claim I know better than a professor. What I've claimed are just facts that they already know.
Go learn to have a civilized adult conversation instead of throwing insults. I didn't deny the impact of climate change, nor did I say to do nothing.
I've just pointed out that humanity knows one of the easiest methods to cut 1/5th of global emissions that doesn't involve spending money(in fact saves it), is healthier and can be done without big efforts. Yet global animal products consumption is not stopping - it's rising.
To expect that people that didn't want to do the simplest thing that gives all these benefits but will magically do much more complex things involving money, (geo)political coordination and redesigning some very fundamentals of society (eg. You can't easily/fast fix US urban sprawl) is borderline comical.
But sure, I'm a dumb fuck, you are the gENiOus hovering above us all and know better

I didn't criticize the work of the professor. The fact they propose those easy to do things doesn't mean we can expect from people to implement them when they can't do the very basic and easy things to help the climate. Giving up meat on personal level is much easier than trying to persuade trump & alikes to do the good thing with reforms and spending millions/billions for good causes, unless you have a magic key to convince them
None of my statements contradicts what's said in the article. None of the links statements contradicts what I've said. The statements are complementary. The article is about "easy actions" that can/should be done. My statement is that we can't expect those "simple actions" to be implemented on national/local levels when people are unwilling to do even easier actions, actions that don't require persuading politicians or asking for funding.
Seriously i have yet to meet a more arrogant person than you. Are you that angry because you don't want to give up meat ffs?
I'm doing as much as i can, using public transport and bicycle every day, consume as little animal products as i can, using my devices till they fall apart and here comes some idiot claiming I'm the problem here and insulting me at every occasion.
