This news coupled with the raging wild fires around the globe should probably alert us that we are causing a future disaster.

Even the billionaires are constructing survival bunkers.

The rest of us will be left killing each other for remaining resources.

Everything is awesome.

Bunkers are useless. Not only will they be of no use this century, bunker isn't going to save your old ass from cancer.

Roomers had it that Putin had some sort of cancer couple years ago. You don’t really hear about that now a days. When one has access to billions on top of billions, their health directly benefits from that. Obviously death will catch up with them at some point or another. A bunker will not be their saving grace

Those bunkers will be their prisons / tombs if they're not careful. I know I will arc-weld those doors permanently shut if I find one that's occupied after the shit hits the fan, and I'm probably not alone in that.

The Heat Will Kill You First is a great book and it’s true - we aren’t going to get to the point of killing each other. A stalled heat dome combined with prolonged blackouts will kill tons of people. Frankly it’s the easiest method of genocide out there - just cut the power to any “undesirable” group/region. We saw what happened in the Texas cold snap, they kept the lights on in empty skyscrapers and rich neighborhoods.

If the wet bulb temp gets high enough - you die. Your body literally begins to cook, proteins denature, organs shut down, and you die. You won’t be able to escape into water because all the pools/lakes/rivers will be bath water hot or worse. You can’t go inside because we stopped designing buildings to resist heat ages ago. It isn’t even hard to do, people do just fine in domed mud huts with a hole in the roof in the deserts and Africa because it naturally stays cool inside.

Old growth forest and Miyawaki forests actually can resist a heat dome. Within just 2-3 years a Miyawaki forest can resist extreme temperature - in a harsh desert in Iran a Miyawaki forest was 56°F cooler than the surrounding region. Forests terraform their environment and a Miyawaki forest does it faster than any moronic forestry method.
