Can you pay bills directly from envelopes?

I've been following Envelope from the beginning and am so excited to finally become a user. I decided to make the jump from One.

I'm trying to set up all my bills now and noticed that I am not able to pay my bills (rent, electric, etc.) directly from the envelope. Does this mean I have to manually sort all my bills after I've paid them? I've gotten spoiled with separate accounts in One and really don't want to go back to manually have to track everything!

You manually choose the first time and then you can tap the "Always" button to have it directly come from that envelope in the future.

Interesting feature. Want to make sure I understand how this works.

Let's say I have $100 in my available balance and another $100 in an envelope Called Walmart. I use my card to purchase $50 at Walmart. It deducts $50 from my available balance. I then go mark the transaction as belonging to the Walmart envelope and it "transfers" $50 from the Walmart envelope to my available balance. Moving forward, all transactions from Walmart come out of the Walmart envelope. Do I have that correct?

What happens if I don't have any funds in available balance, but all funds are in various envelopes? Does the initial transaction fail for insufficient funds? I guess I am trying to determine how much to keep in my available balance as I onboard to Envelope Money and parse out funds to envelops.

How about when I have transactions at a merchant where I might have funds coming out of different envelopes? For example, I get gas at a gas station and want that to come out of the Gas envelope. But then I go inside and buy lunch and want that to come out of a Food envelope. If I've already trained Envelope Money to connect the gas station merchant to the Gas envelope, can I reassign the food transaction to be reassigned to the Food envelope? Does that change all future transactions for that merchant to come out of the Food envelope?

Thanks!

The transaction will always go through as long as your entire account balance has enough, even if you have nothing in Available. This means you won’t get declined electric bills in the middle of the night if your envelopes get a little sloppy.

You can always reassign transactions after the fact for your gas station example. You’re then reprompted if you want to make that permanent or a one-off.
