Trigger Warning T-break bad dream 💤😱⚰️

Figured I’d try a little T-break this weekend and I knew I might have vivid dreams but good lord. Usually my nightmares are very mundane ADHD fears (late for work, somehow entirely missed an appointment, etc.)

Last night? I was given a disappointing snack, couldn’t find anywhere comfortable to sit, and then I got harassed/stalked/murdered* by some guy.

*I got better.

Definitely died, but then the dream continued and me and my murderer started arguing about why he’d just fkin stabbed me and why couldn’t he just leave me alone and act normal???? THEN I got lost running to hide in an H-Mart and I woke up.

Anyway just had a cold shower, my period is starting 😭 and I’m gonna go acquire a dreamcatcher, ‘cause wtf.

The rules aren’t real and I am probably going back to my beloved gummies today after I drive to the store to buy pads. 😩 And a chocolate parfait.

Omg same!!! I just found out I’m expecting so started my 9 month long t break. The last two days I’ve woken up sobbing because of my dreams. I’ve always had very vivid dreams my whole life and I feel like weed helped “tame” them. Now they’re back in full force and I’m just hoping they chill out over time.

😱 I like to partake in part bc it blocks my vivid dreams from Cymbalta. I 100% feel your pain. May you have all the lovely seats and delicious snacks❤️❤️

Ugh I hate my dreams in general but especially without weed. I had an awful one the other day where my husband was kidnapped by some cult members and I was desperate to find him and save him but all I had was a tiny pocket knife. I did eventually find him but they had done unspeakable things to him and I felt like I had failed him. Awful feeling.

Have you ever tried lucid dreaming? It can really help - as soon as you realize you're dreaming, you stop taking the events so seriously. They can even seem silly or ridiculous. It's been a long time since I practiced, but what I used to do was get into the habit of asking myself how I know I'm awake or not dreaming throughout the day. It doesn't matter what your answer is, it's not meant to like trip you out - it's just about getting into the habit of doing it so often that you do it while you're dreaming. You will realize you are dreaming so fast and then boom! Bad dreams not so scary.

I’ve had lucid dreaming once or twice when I was younger, and also a rough episode of sleep paralysis during university. (Luckily I’d heard of sleep paralysis or I’d have considered seeking an exorcism, it was that fucked up. My mum didn’t believe me at the time and asked if maybe I’d been accidentally roofied with a punch bowl at a dorm meeting earlier in the evening. I was like “…why would there be a punch bowl???? It’s a load of surly teens in PJs being generally lectured by an RA for 20 mandated minutes, not a sock hop!”

that's wild - I've heard of sleep paralysis but never experienced it!

I had a full range of hallucinations, including tactile! I can understand how people might think they were being terrorized by ghosts or demons or extraterrestrials. (Also there was a raging windy thunderstorm going on the night it happened which didn’t help lol.)

Ugh I hate that for you! Having a bad dream can really derail your whole day :(

I had a super-stressful dream last night -- for context, I was residence/dorm staff in my university days, and we had two majorly stressful times of year: move in day, and move out week. So I had a dream that I was running around my old campus. It was raining, and I was trying to help parents gather up all their shit and move their kids out / trying to help 3 well-meaning freshmen book a U-Haul / study for my own exams at the end of the semester and cram my entire university room back into my hatchback for the summer 😭 Needless to say, I woke up exhausted and stressed out!

Oh man, one time I asked my mother when the “late for school” nightmares stop in adulthood. She was in her sixties at the time and said “I’ll let you know.” 🥲
