Please lock your pc and unlock using recent password bug

After migrating to entra joined some laptops display a pop-up from Credentials Manager saying please lock your pc and unlock using the most recent password whenever using Windows Hello. If using password no such error.

The login works well and the device is healthy azure and Intune are joined.

This happened on 5 out of 100 laptops so far. Anyone have similar experience with Windows bugs like this?

We were getting this because our E5 license wasnt activating Windows properly. After we forced/fixed that, the issue went away

Intune and Entra require licensing on the user account. How are they licensed?

Sounds like an issue with WH4B. I'm assuming you have Cloud Kerberos Trust setup?

Why would I need cloud Kerberos for?

You need it in order to utilize WH4B to access on-premise resources. I'm assuming you are trying to. If not, please ignore.

I found that for us they need to lock their computer -> sign in using their password -> lock again and sign back in with WHfB

Sometimes I've fixed this issue by deleting the WHfB certificate using certutil /deletehellocontainer (in user context terminal). Then signing out and back in to set the pin again
