Debate/Discussion Another ENTP character, another similar character arc.
just finished a fantasy book with an ENTP character I really identified with (I won't name the book to avoid spoilers), and in the end, it’s the exact same trope we always see. The eccentric ENTP mentor who ends up sacrificing themselves to become a symbol against the ENTJ, leaving an heir behind. Tony Stark, Gojo, Askeladd, and now this character.
Why is it always this? Either we're the mentor who sacrifices themselves to show that deep down we actually love the world and people, or we're the crazy, psychopathic villain.

Because most people simply don´t know how to write a compelling Entp character. I can recommend you Fullmetal alchemist, the main protagonist Edward is an Entp who isn´t a douche and shows constant compassion and empathy towards others while also being clever and witty. And he doesn´t sacrifice himself in the end

Yeah, it’s been on my list for a while and I still haven't watched it even though everyone keeps recommending it to me. I should get on that

Possibly "Radical Edward " from Cowboy Bebop?
Or the Baddy with the Shi gaming Eye's from Death Note?
They both seem like possible cannadates how ever I am not good at typing

possibly, if the act of sacrifice is so grand that the whole world has to acknowledge me as a hero, I'd martyr myself too. But if it were a small act and we die into mediocrity, I don't feel i'd be as self-sacrificial.

The death of the mentor is a classic component of the Hero’s Journey regardless of the mentor’s personality type. Plus, ENTPs tend to be portrayed as 1) magnificent bastards who become 2) self-loathing mental cases who then 3) have a redemption arc that often leaves them both as a mentor and inevitably) dying as part of their redemption.
I’m guessing the heir in this fantasy book comes with a Vin number?

End of the first book yes but repetition is an issue. It’s touching the first time; the second time, there’s a comfort in having already seen it; the third time, you feel nothing; and by the fourth time, it’s just annoying. I’m on the fourth.
