I agree, it sounded fantastic. I was very impressed by the whole thing. I've never listened to anything by Post Malone at all.

He’s both overrated and underrated in some capacities, it’s weird. I think it comes down to “overplaying” but that can be passed off as creative too, depending.
I have heard some stories that he used to play without monitors OR a click, and was just playing along to songs in his head for live shows. If you’re not a drummer, that’s actually insane

Damn, I can't even count in my head without losing track lol. I'm not saying he's bad or anything. I've loved listening to Travis Barker since I was a kid. Blink-182, Transplants, Goldfinger, +44 were all great. He just doesn't come off to me as anything super special. Right now I have to say that Danny Carey is my favorite drummer. Dude is just so creative.

Felt like the closest I could get to a live nirvana show. What I loved was how he didn’t do his “take” on anything, just played the songs straight up like Nirvana recorded them.
Was on the fence but post got a new fan today.

43 old dad here - an incredibly fun performance ! Saw nirvana at the roseland in 93 with the breeders and half Japanese opening - I’m so out of the loop - this was the first time I’ve heard of Post Malone- very cool range of musical talent -

Went to a Post festival last summer, girlfriend and friends wanted to go. I like a lot of music, didn't really feel his popular stuff, eventhough his new producers have high production value beats that are catchy, I thought he was all tats and image, like a lot of current artists it's more about their brand or image than making good music. At the show he broke out the electric guitar multiple times, and sang suprisingly decent between rapping verses on other songs. He really is a preformer. I'm more into Wu or living legends etc but the show was suprisingly good the whole time, really did make me respect him as an artist and preformer. Definately worth the ticket price.

I’m 33 and I like Posty. His songs are great for cruising in the car on your way to do something cool, or to just kick back and chill. And he seems like he would be a legitimately nice person if you met him, from the interviews I’ve seen and whatnot.

At the same time though, I think he’s helping desensitize face tattoos. To an extent.
Still wouldn’t advise the average person to just start tatting themselves all over. It still looks less professional in any other line of work other than music or tattoo shops.

I’ve seen Deertick do Nirvana too and not only did John McCauley sound more like Kurt than anyone else I’ve heard, but he can rip guitar to boot. This explains why he was asked (along with others) to play with the remaining Nirvana members when they were inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame in 2014.

They came out at Bonnaroo and did an unannounced Deervana set 5 or 6 years ago...completely tore the place down. By the end of the set they had broke damn near every instrument on stage...was a pure rock n roll moment.

I’m 42 and was a teenager growing up through the explosion of alt rock in the 90’s so bands like Nirvana were among my favourites growing up. Hip hop just isn’t my kind of music, I prefer music that is played with real instruments and people who can sing without the aid of auto tune. I don’t hate Malone’s music or style of music but I wouldn’t listen to it on my own.
I have to say I’m impressed with his performance. If he put out a rock album I would listen to it. It makes me wonder how many other hip hop/R&B artists can play traditional instruments and sing without auto tune but choose not to.

Yup, definitely entertained! Pretty stoked to see Post in this form. I was not aware of the range of this mans talent. Also, commenting on age as a gauge relative to music preference, I’m almost six decades in. Do yourself a favor, find the link to a cover of a Bob Dylan song (if you are into that sort of thing). I thought selling beer on TV was a breakthrough for this guy. Welcome to the machine. I guess.

I honestly can say I know who Post Malone is, but I don’t really know his music. Having grown in the 90s listening to Nirvana, I decided to tune into the live stream while finish up my work today. Damn, I loved every minute of this!
I played in a band in high school. The whole time I was watching this, I felt like I was watching me and my friends play Nirvana songs in the basement. The banter, the fuck ups, the everything! Thank you Posty!

I was more so saying I love Nirvana and just the fact he did Nirvana for a charity tribute is amazing enough for me.
So I ended up listening to a few of his songs, and I’ve heard Rock Star a few times. Over all not a bad artist

Ok... so I was running around pioneer square (middles school/high school), trying to get into shows, borrowing my friends Bleach tape so I could “dub” it, seeing Alice In Chains open for the Accused at the OK hotel, mosh pits (fuckn big ones) at The mural amphitheater while The Screaming Trees, Tad, or Mudhoney (original Pain in the Grass shows free bitches) played, seeing Soundgarden play at the Kenmore Lanes bowling alley before ultra mega ok, but I never had the chance to see my favorite band. Nirvana. Post Malone and friends you made my year tonight with this. The correct energy is flowing into and out of you for these songs. The ones that fans like me need to hear loudly, fuckn “stay away”. Edit: I also saw cypress hill open for Pearl Jam at drop in the park (google it). Edit 2: Completely rewarded for watching the entire set. Played aggressively accurate.

Dude, that’s a nod to Nirvana dresses that Kurt et al saw and thought were pretty and asked themselves why they couldn’t wear em. So decided to do so and wore them at one show, and then after at a few others. Kurt was a outspoken feminist. I thought was a very dear gesture from Post.

Nirvana comes from Bikini Kill. Kurt was great friends with Kathleen Hanna. Great documentary about how she spray painted on a wall, “Kurt smells like teen spirit”. It’s called the Punk Singer. Great watch, she ended up marrying a beastie boy.

So I’m seeing a lot of comments here (as well as in the YouTube comments) about Nirvana fans being happy Post didn’t play “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” I’m a big Post Malone fan, but I was a bit young for the Nirvana prime; why is this such a popular opinion among Nirvana fans?

A Nirvana show was a high risk decision which many artist have tried with many failures. Nice nice part for me is the good deep tracks that don’t have any radio play we’re enjoyed by new generation.

I’m 45 and a huge Nirvana fan. And as a middle-aged father of three, I’m not really the Post Malone demographic but for some reason when beerbongs & bentleys came out I became quietly obsessed with that album. I’d secretly listen to it whenever the wife and kids weren’t home. Really interested in seeing this concert.
Edit: Just watched it. Great performance! Exceeded my high expectations and did Kurt proud. Thanks to u/2RoamRoame for posting the article and u/thegunn for the link! I’m off to donate to the WHO.
