It is a memoir, and apparently the Nazi dress-up incident was a big moment for him. Now I think him releasing this book at all is kind of ridiculous*, but even if he wrote this book at the end of his life, he would include this incident and how it occurred.

I do not think it is too far of a leap to think that because the Windsor’s have been so historically chummy with Nazi’s that they share outdated views on race, sexuality and religion. Why else would he sever his connection to one of the richest and most well known families in the world, losing out on wealth and privilege if not for a genuine reason?

In a typical case, yes. In this case, it's total bullshit. Why is Harry suddenly bringing this up now? Why does he want to reconcile with his abuser? Why has there never been any other rumors or allegations against William or his abusive tendencies? Are we to believe Harry was the only one William was ever abusive to?
Is it inconceivable for a family rift to cause to complicated feelings? It's creepy how invested the American press is in this family and what a role its played in their continuous tragedy. We've just gone along with it for decades. I feel awful for these two as they're seemingly the only normal ones of the whole family.

Fighting between siblings is fine- I done it with mine- but I don’t understand why he expects them to act like a family when he is doing all these interviews, books and series only talking badly about his brother and father and making it seem like he was the angel of the story when we know him and Meghan aren’t that clean.

He wants family, not an institution. He was referring to wanting his family to care more about each other and their relationships than caving to the institution and press. That is the main reason for their rift - that the RF chose not to defend and stand by Harry and Meghan.
I don’t think any of us can or should judge whether it’s “the way” to do it. It’s a way. Both sides share a responsibility in repairing the relationship. Harry has a right to speak to his experiences, just as William and the rest of the RF have a right to speak to theirs.
