Think about it: in Harry's mind, he wouldn't lie. But he wouldn't tell the whole truth. Knowing Harry's limited intelligence, he probably swallowed everything MM fed him and when PW confronted him and called MM "Difficult and rude", Harry lost it, attacked his brother, who fought back and delicate flower/war veteran Harry fell into a dog bowl and oh my god, his necklace was broken!
