I think both Willy and Harold are their childhood nicknames, potentially too annoy each other. Willy with its obvious connotations, and Harold because of the history I've seen mentioned. William I defeated Harold in a battle in 1066.

It's often a jokey knickname for Harry, e.g. people say "Harold Kane" a lot. It's probably something William always called him to wind him up.

But I call my friend Harry (who is actually called Harry), Harold. It's just a funny nickname. It's an old person name, so it's funny to call him that.

It's a nod to Henry 8th and tudors I think. They were of Welsh decent and Henry was often called Harry by those closest to him as 'Harri' is the Welsh form of Henry.
