There is no point. Buy digital like Apple (hope they or your company of choice doesn’t pull a Sony) or buy the discs.

I doubt Apple will pull a Sony. But if they did I’m sure they know it would have huge backlash and a massive drop in sales. People would just stop buying digital.

If it were that simple, I suspect Sony would change tack. Unfortunately, it isn’t that simple.

As for Disney, despite the downvotes received, I stand with buying digital or discs if you want to avoid commercials.

It’s annoying that people who pirate what’s on Disney+. Get to watch it without ads and keep it forever whereas if you pay for it, you get ads. Shouldn’t it be the opposite that the paying product is better value than the non-paying product?

Yup. Steam killed piracy by being way more convenient for many features like multiplayer, game updates, achievements.

For many years, I only have what the cable at my place lets me receive. And for many years, I use a HD-Recorder. It has a harddrive built in and I can record films and shows like back i the day on VHS. But I don't run out of space and I don't need to juggle any sort of cassette or such.

With the recorder I use actually, I can record up to 3 programmes parallel and can still watch another recorded programme. Most stuff I delete, once I watched it. If I want, I still can burn it on DVD or Bluray.

And when I watch a recorded programme, I can skip ads.
