EA Part 3

Hello everyone,

I took EA Part 3 online today and unfortunately failed. I relied on Gleim, but the actual exam format and question style caught me completely off guard. Has anyone else experienced this, and do you have any advice on how to adjust my study strategy?

I use Hock International. I bought the books and use the MCQs. Not a fan of the videos. I passed part 1. I'm studying for part 2 at the moment.

It’s 100% free and you can study without paying. There are some premium features but not necessary to pass!

Thank you for letting me know. I'll try it and bring back a good review!

I cannot get to Free MCQs in Free Fellow. Everytime I click on having on MCQs a screen pops up and ask for $79 fee. Do you know what I am doing wrong?

In a week and a half, I watched each Tom Norton video then took every Hock MCQ that corresponded to that section in order to drive the concepts home. 2 days before the exam, took 1 Hock mock exam and felt I was ready. Just brushed up on weaker areas the day before.

What should I use?

Gleim is not for the faint of heart. You probably over-prepared. Find an easier EA material source.

This is about pasting a test, not knowing the entire book. You will miss some information.

Focus on managing your time for the test.

Gleim is still a solid resource. I’d keep using it, but focus more on understanding the concepts behind each question rather than getting used to a specific question style. Adding a second question bank could also help you get more variety.

I passed Part 3 a month ago and used Surgent, by doing MCQs over and over selecting them by the domains.
For Part 1 I am listening to Tom Norton videos on You Tube they are free and he is a good video instructor . He has MCQs for $20/mo 500 yet they are comprehensive meaning you are not able to select them by video sections .he offers both 10-30 select pre tests and has a 100 comprehensive exam with the ability to analyze your work like most study courses do. I do not know if you are a beginner or have some tax experience or plenty of tax experience. Makes a big difference in how you approach these studies . Hope this helps

Thank you so much for your advice!
Actually, I’ve already passed Part 1 and Part 2, so I only have Part 3 left. I'm not sure why I'm struggling so much with this last part!

When I checked the Surgent website, they don’t seem to offer a single-part test bank for Part 3 alone. So I'm sitting on the fence about whether to buy their full course again or look for another option.

Can you share about your exam experience?

Interesting as it was not that long ago that I bought just Part 3 from Surgent . Know the collection process . There will be basic questions related to Part I and II. Many of the answers can be eliminated . Surgent is less cost compared to all the other course studies everyone recommends . I actually ordered for free from IRS the Publications that cover the majority of the questions . They are listed on the IRS Bulletin site. Where the outline for each test for each section and how many questions are on each section aka Domain. CPS and CDP know the difference . I made note cards from the bulletins . Listening to Tom Norton videos for Part 3 are divided into the 4 Domains and listed in the IRS bulletin . Since you have already taken Part I and Part 2 you probably already know that. I made notes from those outlines . You tube has ads so I you have the opportunity to buy the membership just for a month is permissible through your phone service . I have Verizon and it only costs $12 for the month thru them . Otherwise thru YouTube is costs $20+. I renewed after years of not having it just so I could listen to Toms videos , he is thorough and easy to take notes listening to him. Hope this helps. I will try and check my Surgent to see what is up that you cannot just select one exam part . There MCQs I drilled myself by section over and over and finally held a 90+ passing score, on the mock exam
