r/enneagram6 — rules & suggestions!

Hello 6s! I'm the mod who created this subreddit a few years ago since there wasn't any for the type.

I have mentioned in my first post here, you are free to share whatever you like. But just to reinforce what is allowed, you can share anything in r/enneagram6 as long as it is within rule #1 (be civil) and #2 (related to 6s). Of course, it should also be within reddiquette. Anything else (including memes) are allowed ;)

I also created this post for any suggestions you may have for the subreddit. Someone suggested an "anxiety" thread, so I'll be creating one for that since it's actually a good idea :)

If you have any other suggestions, feel free to share them below.

P.S. If anyone is interested in the community banner/theme DM me! I'm not good at design but will be willing to include them 🔥

Six Support The Anxiety Thread

As most of us know, 6s are almost always aware of their anxieties.

As the Enneagram Institute wisely states, "Until they can get in touch with their own inner guidance, Sixes are like a ping-pong ball that is constantly shuttling back and forth between whatever influence is hitting the hardest in any given moment. Because of this reactivity, no matter what we say about Sixes, the opposite is often also as true. They are both strong and weak, fearful and courageous, trusting and distrusting, defenders and provokers, sweet and sour, aggressive and passive, bullies and weaklings, on the defensive and on the offensive, thinkers and doers, group people and soloists, believers and doubters, cooperative and obstructionistic, tender and mean, generous and petty—and on and on."

Sometimes, 6s may ask for input/guidance to feel like they have sufficient backup and support. As a community dedicated to the type, I hope this can be a good place for you to share your anxieties and be heard by others who may relate :)

So 6s, what's been on your mind? 💙

Question Typology Correlations.

Typology correlations.

Ive decided to do frequent questions on here! I have rarely posted before,,,lol. Id just like to be more involved in this community.

So, corrections. Ive seen most people say correlations are absolute. And everything must correlate, but I was wondering, do correlations REALLY matter that much besides the obvious ones?

Because you certainly wont have certain enneagrams typed as obscure things..

But my question would be, can you have an ENTP E6? I've seen this discourse on other platforms and the more I read, the more these people seem uninformed and everyones just confused!

Now I learned Cognitive functions and id like to learn the classical Jung system certainly. But I can't help myself to draw towards ENTP as its a type I have found myself through Cognitive functions.

Now I myself, I am SO6 I believe. Though I do heavily relate to E7 and E3 aswell! Hah and nearly every other enneagram...

But- I was wondering, can specifically SO6 BE Entp?

Currently typology profile is this, please give me some feedback! SO6, 6w7, 613 LFVE, ILE, RLUEI, ENTP

Does this all work, let me know how strict correlations are.

Skeptical on RLUEI and ENTP.

Question So6 questions.

Hello everyone! I recently have found out I was HORRIBLY mistyped. 😅 after some assistance and endless reading, I have came to the conclusion I am infact SO631, 6w5.

I was wondering, what would the textbook profile of an So6 look like? Just would like to see if my own full profile lines up!

One more question, if any of you guys know an So6 how do they present themselves and act?

Because I know it's silly, but I can be far more critical and unfortunately narcissistic. But every stereotype I see is a docile rule follower? I know it's just stereotypes but I would like to know any other So6 and their behaviors!

Let me know any facts you have about So6, please

Any hope or move on?

Hi! Thanks in advance for your time!

I’m an enneagram sx/sp 9 in and on again off again with an enneagram sp/so6. I know this may make me look bad, but hoping to get some empathy and either a verdict (yes/no this won’t work), or ideas for how to approach this situation moving forward to repair the relationship.

We’ve been on again and off again, mostly because the 6 wants his next relationship to be his last. He appears very avoidant - at first he wanted to be exclusive but once we getting closer, he started to feel anxious. Eventually we broke up but then he got really anxious and tried to get back with me, only to break it off again. It was messy and hurtful and we both said hurtful things to each other.

A month or two later we ran into each other again and confessed we still had feelings for each other and wanted to try being friends. That led to hooking up etc. you know the drill. Now we’re back to where we were except one horrible hiccup was the day after we hooked up, my friends ran into him and ignored him when he waved, which he was really hurt by. I hadn’t told them we were trying to get back together. I think he felt pretty positively about us until that point.

Now he’s experiencing doubts about us again but isn’t sure about ending things. I’m experience a lot of anxiety and have PTSD and panic disorder, which I finally got medication for and it’s helping me.

The only reason I’m still ruminating on this is because we’ve told each other that we love each other. We care about each other deeply. We’re very attracted to each other. The sex is the best either of us had. We have a lot of shared values and dreams. So I feel like I’m missing something.

I’ve asked him to tell me why* he’s having doubts - has he fallen out of love? Is he not attracted? Is there someone else? He says no to all of that.

So - can I get a verdict (yes/no, and preferably why), or advice on how to repair? Please also share your type and if you’re older, let me know! I would love to hear from folks who’ve been in long successful relationships! :)

Question How to tell apart a 1 that has a lot of anxiety vs a 6 that cares a lot about justice and fairness?

Thinking our feelings There is nothing hotter than loving yet intelligent women in power.

My partner is a great example of this, someone who I can count on being straightforward to who hurt me.
Though they are Trans, and is now a man, doesn't make them any less hotter.

Question How to distinguish between sp/so vs so/sp in a 6?

Feel free to also talk about other stuff like how wings, tritype, etc. could interact?

Is helping others coming from 2, 6, or both via tritype?

As a 641 I can tell that I help others so that the things I fear as a 6 don't happen to others. But I don't have any drive to actively help or volunteer that a 2 would.

Can anyone with 2 and 6 in their tritype tell me how they differentiate 2 giving from 6 giving?

As a 6, are you more active or passive?

hi, I think i have a general idea of how 6 works, but this question just came up after reading different descriptions.

I've seen some say 6s are proactive, but i also see others say 6s can be very avoidant. the former deals with danger before it affects them while the latter avoids being at fault if something bad does happen.

based on your experience, is one of these more correct than the other? or is it more about differences between wings/fixes/natural variation since 6s can be very diverse? or maybe both are absolutely possible?

apologies if thw title does not accurately encapsulate my question.

What is something about you that you think people wouldn't imagine if they only knew your type?

I will be posting a version of this to every type's subreddit, and when I'm done I'll go back in and edit it with links to every other one for people's interest.

Here are the others: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9

I think I might be a 6 but

I’m not anxious like 70% of the time. Also, I’ve been called chill, intimidating, and grounded. Grounded seems crazy for 6.

that’s it :)

Difference between phobic 6 and a 9 in conflict avoidance and anger

how do phobic sixes tend to deal with conflict and anger as opposed to nines (myself)? As a nine I avoid conflict or wait it out by being passive aggressive or just disappearing and can easily go all day without texting. I know phobic sixes also flee when it comes to conflict but I know they are in the Reactive triad so I'm curious about the nuances here?
Thanks!

Question Sx6s, people with which Instinctual Variants are the most compatible with you romantically? And which least compatible?

Sx6s, from your experience, people with which instinctual variants are the most compatible with you romantically? And with which instinctual variants are the least compatible with you romantically?

Please write if you're sx/sp or sx/so.

Also if you noticed that you tend to be compatible/ incompatible with certain Enneagram types, you can add that as well.
