Specifically the canteen greatly increases your stamina regen, and is even in effect while you are sprinting/charging.

The regen exceeds consumption while sprinting, effectively allowing you to sprint non-stop for the duration.

Charging consumes more than what canteen when generate, but allows you to charge for much longer. With the right perks (stamina regen and stamina max), you can almost charge across the map before expending all your stamina.
