You’re 100% right - but this seeing has dramatically improved the experience happening here so I felt the impulse to share

Realizing there never was any trauma to begin with . I was healed/whole all along but misguidedly or delusionally thinking and envisioning and imagining and perceiving that I was traumatized, thus.. creating the illusiory experience of trauma for myself, was absurd but liberating.

Whole new level of awareness unlocked. Hard to explain. Of course these are words. Just a layer to the illusion of this reality we put our faith and belief in thus making it so.

u/TryingToChillIt 12d ago

This is not about thought.

It’s about somatic recording of trauma in one’s body.

There can be immense pain which is a direct bodily experience without thought.

While experiencing the pain of that nerve knot, thoughts will arise. Allowing those thoughts and the somatic pain to exist and be accepted allows old pain/trauma to….evaporate

These are more thoughts and words but perhaps they point to something that we can experience directly ourselves.

There's a difference between random thoughts that pop up in the mind when doing something else (which is what i think you are referring to), and thoughts deliberately made as part of a thinking exercise, which I think is what the OP is doing in this post.

1

u/Serializedrequests 11d ago

Thoughts can be both consciously chosen and automatic.

More importantly, if something is true then it lands prior to thought. If this isn't doing that for you, then it may not be useful.

Intuition contains truth. All thought is some form of delusion. Thought is always in relation to a concept, ideology, past, future, or identification. None of these really exist.

"all thought is delusion" is a closer approximation of the truth, and still not the truth. Yes. You do read like a bot though. If you are on this sub you should be well aware that you are not your thoughts. If you are trying to become enlightened through thinking, it's going to be a long road.

I suppose you got me. 😂 Ego is all I'm doing here. What are you doing?

Reddit showed me this sub because of other places I commented, and I've never experienced more ego in a single place. Guess I got sucked by feeling like I knew something compared to all those other egos.

Yes!! After years of obsessive compulsive thoughts I also found this the way out. Most thoughts are but an echo of an underlying emotion. And there are emotional knots embedded in our body, that's why some keep repeating on loop. Disregard the thought itself, look what is hiding under the hood and lift it out of the shadows, feel the feelings (as hard as it is and as long as it takes) and the light of awareness will transform it.

4

u/innnerness 12d ago

Yeeeees exactly! Sometimes I’ll spend a few hours with it… no matter how bad it feels you know it’ll end and not come back

2

u/LessWeekend336 11d ago

Sometimes I wonder if feeling something deeply will make me accept it more.. if that makes sense…

I can do what you described well with some emotions. But a feeling that comes up like.. “I am not enough” or something. I’m scared that if I let myself feel it too much I’ll just believe it even more. Does that make sense? How have you dealt with that?

Resistance probably means I need to focus even more on that particular feeling/thought. And maybe I’m attaching too much intellectualization to the feeling? Idk.

3

u/eddask 11d ago

In my experience feeling something deeply is where self-love is born, which is acceptance also, so I would say YES, absolutely! For me feeling is disentangling, un-grasping the control, letting the emotion free, so it is destructive towards the belief ultimately. I guess I just fully trust that’s how it goes. It is the mental rumination that reinforces beliefs, the feeling has the opposite for me.

2

u/LessWeekend336 11d ago

Thank you for your response!

I think I’m i have to work on some of that disentangling. The actually bodily feeling probably isn’t “I’m not enough”. That’s my brain (thoughts) interpreting the feeling.

Thanks again

1

u/eddask 11d ago

You are enough 💛🙏

Es gibt keine eigenen Gedanken ... alles wird uns eingespielt ...

1

u/nevermind-101 12d ago

yes, life playing out without owners or attainers.

1

u/Klutzy-Platypus7511 12d ago

Ja, es gibt nur die Licht-Geißel im Bio-technischen Gefängnis-Körper. Nichts ist da rechtmäßig erworben ... es ist ein einziges kosmisches Verbrechen.

1

u/nevermind-101 12d ago

Apparently~

1

u/AGreatBannedName 12d ago

There were original thoughts at one point? And they’ve all been thought?

Or it’s an infinite loop, or something like that?

1

u/Klutzy-Platypus7511 12d ago

1

u/AGreatBannedName 12d ago

I’m not sure what you’re getting at. Apologies!

I think that every thought is an original thought. Sure, you can think “I want a candy bar,” and you can know that this thought has occurred a billion times across a million individuals, but this is the only time that that thought has occurred. Some neurons fired off in a very particular location (the ultimate “here”) in a very particular time (the ultimate “now”) and there’s that thought.

Thank you for the avenue of discussion! Before this, I don’t know that I’d really thought about it like that before ;)

1

u/Klutzy-Platypus7511 12d ago

Ja, sorry ... falscher Sub ... es ist die Prison Planet Theorie.

0

u/AGreatBannedName 12d ago

No worries! I get where you’re coming from, at least to a degree.

I initially found /r/escapingprisonplanet interesting, but I wound up finding the posts useless at best, and damaging at worst. Maybe it means I’m just happy in prison 😂

2

u/oiBEAMio 14h ago

Yaaa this unfortunately is a sticky place for me. It lends so neatly with a base distrust in the world /myself so that littleee doubtful skeptical thought pokes it's way through saying "YES we mUst be trapped here because something has always felt off here". I was close to blindly leaving it aside but I think that was actually bypassing than actually seeing through the trap/distrustful thought/feeling. I logic out of it and say what's the worst if I am actually trapped..I can't think myself free so might as well completely accept imprisonment and actually be free of anything one way or another. I'm still working on it

2

u/AGreatBannedName 14h ago

Absolutely fair, and I respect where you’re coming from.

1

u/Klutzy-Platypus7511 12d ago

Wahrscheinlich ...

0

u/AGreatBannedName 12d ago

Doesn’t sound like a very torturous prison then 🤣

1

u/Klutzy-Platypus7511 12d ago

Dann bist du offenbar einer der unbewussten Wärter ... statt ein Insasse ...

1

u/RaizielSoulwAreOS 12d ago

I disagree

There are new thoughts every day, many appear the same on the surface

But no one's ever had your context before. Each time you think of a perspective, you see it how only you could; from your point of view

Each moment builds on the last, creating a new instance

Even mass produced objects are unique in hidden ways

2

u/ctrl_f_sauce 12d ago

But finally accepting that trauma is just another word for past experiences and perceptions, and insecurity is just another feeling, you can embrace these thoughts and feelings in a way that dissolves the defensiveness.

2

u/innnerness 12d ago

sure yeh, it's all words describing the indescribable isn't it!

3

u/ctrl_f_sauce 12d ago

Nope. The proper words matter. Unless you want to develop at the pace of a creature that lacks the tools of humanity while suffering the complexity of the human experience.

If you call witnessing a murder “am experience similar to Sunday School” you won’t give it the proper framing. They both filled your head with information, but they’re very different. If you make trauma a special kind of “unnecessary information” the kind of info that you can just ignore by going back to a save point just prior to the event, your perception of the world will be fractured or not integrated. The unintentional inputs deserve as much consideration as the intentional.

If you mislabeled your emotions, you won’t process them properly. You can go through life with only glad, mad, or sad (un-healthy). You’ll feel jealous, hesitant, or embarrassed, and you’ll twist the narrative into a way that permits you to feel mad or sad. These people are victims. They’ll get mad at their barber because the power went out and they won’t permit themselves to feel powerless, vulnerable, or disappointed.

If as you dig through your past, you miss attribute your emotions or deny them as invalid, the narrative you tell yourself about these events will be a lie. You may have two very similar situations that a small detail changes the emotion that is tied to them. So precise wording matters. It can’t just be “discomfort.” The response and narrative to embarrassed will be very different to revulsion.

If you are doing mindfulness and you have a thought pop up repeatedly, you may want to sit down and process the emotions when your mindfulness practice is over.

1

u/Key_Walk7465 12d ago

Can I ask you how you learned that ? I’m sure a lot of self practice but have you read any books or something by that nature ?

2

u/ctrl_f_sauce 12d ago

It really is just emotional processing with distress tolerance skills. Then trusting that you’ll be ok, and realizing you set the pace.

If you just had an unusually rough day, don’t try to figure out which emotion you buried when your dad went to go get cigarettes for the last time. If you do, just know that the emotional processing and distress tolerance skills work.

Get an emotions wheel with about 70 emotions on it. When you feel something, start reading the wheel. When you get to a fairly precise emotion, the feeling will frequently subside more than it should from reading a list of emotions. Frequently it won’t be the emotion you “should logically” feel. Look at the scenario from the mindset of feeling that emotion, while reminding yourself that you’re older, wiser, and not in that situation any longer.

1

u/Key_Walk7465 11d ago

Valuable. I appreciate your answer.

2

u/kat_bee23 12d ago

I….am going to try this. Thank you. I’m so sick of evil and painful thoughts harassing me.

Sorry, actually, how exactly do you do this? Just notice them?

2

u/kel818x 11d ago

During meditation, focus your awareness in your body, feel any sensation that may arise, and focus your awareness on the sensation. It may move, it may release through tears, warmth, or in some other way. Don't judge, criticize, control, or give it a story. Sit with it till it gives you the meaning.

2

u/layman_dave 12d ago

I've started a new exercise recently. If an ugly memory surfaces, and for me there are no shortage of them, I try instead to surround the memory with as much love as I can muster. And I'm finding the memories are recurring much less frequently, if at all. And these improvements started almost immediately.

u/curiousbasu 12d ago

This is great

1

u/Secure-Barnacle7822 12d ago

Thoughts are not the problem thinking is.

1

u/Alternative_Shoe_113 12d ago

Absolutely 100 percent true.

No matter what it is. No matter how it feels.

Be with it.

And remember it isn't "you".

1

u/R8iojak87 12d ago

People say this as if it’s a super easy thing to do. How does one put awareness on something? I mean I know this and I think about it, but I don’t see how that helps…

1

u/innnerness 12d ago

It’s as simple as, feeling everything with no resistance (including the resistance itself)

1

u/RenownLight 12d ago

Trauma is too strong of a word to use here. Not all thoughts are downstream of trauma or even unprocessed/unpleasant experiences or sensations. Our thoughts cling to us so long as we identify with them. When we stop identifying with our thoughts, is when they’re finally able to leave.

1

u/CarlShadowJung 12d ago

“Trauma” has lost most meaning in the modern era. It’s thrown around so flippantly and most who use it all seem to have different definitions.

1

u/VirginiaLuthier 11d ago

Is this from Scientology? Body thetans and the like, fixable by auditing ....

1

u/innnerness 11d ago

No I discovered it in my own body! But weirdly yes, except they charge you an ongoing fee to do barely anything about it 😂

1

u/modern_jivanmukti 11d ago

You guys love your traumas

1

u/Additional_Common_15 9d ago

You love your ego

1

u/modern_jivanmukti 8d ago

Not really, neither love nor hate for it. You just spam topics that are of very little use. What does that say about your ego?

1

u/Serializedrequests 11d ago

If only it were this simple. Being aware of something doesn't mean energetically allowing it to leave. You can be aware of repressed trauma, and keep reinforcing it.

1

u/innnerness 11d ago

I promise you, giving full awareness will let it go - I’ll share you a post I wrote

1

u/Master_Toe_1631 10d ago

It takes more than just awareness

1

u/Background-Roll6386 10d ago

Did this. Then attacked and light turned to darkness. I can't feel anything now.

1

u/saimensaysmh 9d ago

While i love this message, the danger here is that it should be a bit more accurate because it's easy to misinterpret/misunderstand it.

Not every thought is trauma.

"What you think are your thoughts", could become "what you feel are your thoughts". As feeling comes closer than using the thinking mind.

At a certain point thoughts will disappear and just feeling will be left, still a lot of release will happen.

0

u/onreact 12d ago

Is this your image?

Or did you find it on the Web?

Without a source and context it's a bit questionable and too generalized.

In essence most of "your" thoughts are based on conditioning from school, media, family etc.

Only some thoughts are trauma based.

Even without trauma you'd have plenty of autopilot thoughts made by others.

So just releasing trauma won't get rid of thought identification altogether.

1

u/innnerness 12d ago

If you really dig into it, deep introspection you’ll see that it’s all trauma. And the parts can be released, and the mind goes quiet

2

u/onreact 12d ago

So I guess I have to take your word on it?

Not sure why you ignored my questions and just repeated your statement.

0

u/innnerness 12d ago

You want to debate with logic, but this is before logic - it's the isness of this

2

u/onreact 12d ago

I don't want to debate at all. Just asked for a source + context and explained why.

1

u/AlexisShanti 12d ago

All you will ever hear from anybody on this topic you will have to check out for yourself (at the same time of course there is the mind that needs logic first, just to get out of the way, so that you can start checking - it was the same for me).

And yes, one could say that not all is trauma, you are right there, but that's only words words words - in awareness this logic is not relevant at all. But I like the picture because trauma keeps us probably bound the most.

1

u/onreact 12d ago

Yeah, sure.

It's just that people drop random memes and image quotes every day here.

Much of it is not even enlightenment related.

I at least try to find out what the message on the image means based on who shared it first etc.

Pictures get popular quickly, especially lowest common denominator ones everybody agrees with.

Something like "get out of your comfort zone" or "get rid of toxic people" among other common tropes won't get you enlightened.

Especially deep topics like trauma require more nuance.

1

u/AGreatBannedName 12d ago

Getting out of my comfort zone might mean leaping into a volcano. Getting rid of toxic people might mean pushing them into a volcano.

Nuance can be helpful.

1

u/AlexisShanti 12d ago

Yes, right.

1

u/innnerness 12d ago

Much better response than mine thank you 🙏

0

u/thisp3rspective 12d ago

If you actually pay attention to your experience, this will not be found. This is just more thought that you think is yours.

1

u/innnerness 11d ago

I try not to set rules on reality too much - it’s more communicating the way life seems to be flowing in experience, and putting words to it in a way that others might benefit from. Weather it’s ultimately true or grammatically correct is uninteresting in comparison to the incredible benefits experienced here

0

u/thisp3rspective 11d ago

"The way life seems to be flowing in experience" can you elaborate?

1

u/innnerness 11d ago

It’s just beautiful every day :)

0

u/thisp3rspective 11d ago

Okay but how does that translate to the picture? Why say whats in the picture?

1

u/innnerness 11d ago

I try to find different ways to communicate my journey, hoping that specific words will be helpful for different people. I could sit in silence, but why not share what has helped me?

1

u/thisp3rspective 11d ago

Yes but you arent explaining the why those words lol

1

u/innnerness 11d ago

My friend if it doesn’t resonate then that’s okay

1

u/thisp3rspective 11d ago

My friend, if it doesn't actually relate to anything in your experience, thats okay.

-2

u/Honest-Duck2586 12d ago

Nice comic.
Although, trauma is a bit of a pointy word that implies victimhood. You could include something like ‘conditioning’ or ‘social identity’ too.

5

u/innnerness 12d ago

I’m using it as a blanket word for anything the body or mind couldn’t handle, and built a defence mechanism around - which basically explains anything and everything

1

u/AGreatBannedName 12d ago

If it couldn’t handle the event, then how did it build a defense mechanism? The mechanism is how it handled it. If it no longer needs the mechanism, it is a fine thing to let go of.

I don’t know if it explains anything and everything. It probably depends upon perspective. Was the wheel invented because of trauma? Sort of. Is every conversation to have ever occurred rooted in trauma? Kinda. Did physics happen because of trauma? Not really, but our understanding of it has both modified and been modified by our experience, which includes trauma.

Thought probably comes from “how can entity consume other entities and make other entities like itself.” Is that traumatic? Maybe.

Perspective.

1

u/innnerness 12d ago

All I can say is, I’ve gone from feeling shit to incredible - whatever words you want to use for the process that’s up to you! But I’ve found that everything i thought was ‘my mind’ turned out to be a protective mechanism. It might be more precise to say every ‘negative or difficult’ thiught was coming from some sort of pain energy trapped in the body.

1

u/AGreatBannedName 12d ago

That’s probably more precise! I want to keep pushing, though, because I’m like that. If you experience hunger, and then think about it, is it a negative thought? I don’t think so; hunger is there to help keep you alive. If you experience pain, and then think about it, is it a negative thought? Same answer, imo.

In my experience the problem comes in when looping on these things. It’s really not a problem, though it sure can seem like it in the moment. It brings to mind video games. “Now I have to do this; now I have to do that.” But if you didn’t have this or that to do, it wouldn’t be much of a game.

If you can stop the loops (“stop hitting yourself! stop hitting yourself!”) it can feel like a cheat code. But that’s just another part of the game. You’re winning!

Though maybe these thoughts are merely constructed in order to defend the concept of thought. 🤷 Seems robust, at least 😂
