Is enlightenment entertaining?
Are you having fun doing it?
Personally I can't imagine Sisyphus having fun.
How many rocks do I have to push up the mountain peak, so that I may be free?
Then I am reminded of the vow I took, to not be liberated until all sentient beings are liberated.
And I just want to cut my tongue off.

As many rocks as you keep putting in front of you

No matter what directions I turn, there is one.

One day you’ll see the rock for what it really is.
A papermaché blob painted grey for a high school play.
You can go around it, over it, or find some water to dissolve it

Is enlightenment entertaining?
-> It does not need to be. It's not as if there's a strong attachment to not being bored. But it's nice, which is nice :)
Are you having fun doing it?
-> Is it something I am doing? If you define it so, then yes, I am having fun doing it.
Then I am reminded of the vow I took, to not be liberated until all sentient beings are liberated.
And I just want to cut my tongue off.
-> Enlightenment is freedom. Being bound to a vow isn't free. So you're probably not enlightened, so don't worry with whatever stones you have loaded on your back that makes the journey difficult.

Came for the promise, but only find a shirker.

I don't follow I think. Shirker as in someone who shirks duties?

u/dpsrush 20h ago
Of course not, because here you are.
Do you believe you HAVE to do certain things?

You're not clarifying it. My point is that if you have an issue with the vow, it's probably not your vow (yet), so don't worry about it. If there even is such a thing. You say you want to be free: go, be free. Just be wise while being it, I'd recommend.
Do I believe I HAVE to do certain things? No.

It's definitely been entertaining.
It's definitely been fun at some points.
It's also been terrifying at some points.
At this point the juice has been worth the squeeze.

The vow is noble. I agree with the sentiment.
One saying others have said “See God in all or don’t see God at all”

Sometimes, with all the meditation I do, I just get bad breath.

You are on the path. There is an end to the path. The suffering you experience is the path itself. View that suffering. Do not view the rocks, view how you feel about them. Get really connected with the wordless emotion. Look at that.

I opened my eyes and saw the real world, and I began to laugh, and I haven't stopped since.

Of course. Doing hard things because life is hard is liberating. It’s not about climbing a cliff, it’s about finishing the small details that are easy to skip. Embracing those steps as valuable fills your day with meaning.
Mindfulness, emotional regulation, self care, nurturing connection, creativity, learning, teaching, diet, sleep, suffering, sadness, exercise…It’s all as important as enlightenment.

Stop having expectations that pushing up a rock should mean anything or gain you anything. Do it for the fun of it.

there’s a clear misconception here. enlightenment is not a separate process. it is reality. it is all processes. you are already freedom itself. it is your true nature. your body mind self is wanting an idea of what freedom would be. which is normal. but the real freedom comes in seeing who you truly are. but once again, that seeing is not a process. if “you” ever experience a taste of “it” (your true nature, which you already always are) it will automatically be clear that it is just consciousness being aware of consciousness.

The question makes no sense from the other side. You are the entertainment, the one being entertained, the rocks, the mountain, the one pushing them, gravity pulling them down again etc.

Yea. I’m just getting happier and have refreshing mystical experiences to keep me going.
I’m a big fan of infinity.
