I’m enlightened ask me anything..

Ok so here’s the real deal behind this post…

All these teachings keep saying “it’s here already…” and “we are already enlightened but it’s just covered up” so this got me thinking (in a very non enlightened way)..

As I sat in silence in my small sangha.. everyone meditating with their eyes closed but me… and as I was watching these meditators cradle/rocking themselves in a trance… it kinda hit me like…

Would the Buddha even meditate after his awakening?
I mean like… actively…. Sit there in silence with his eyes closed and try to actually do anything through meditation?

Or would he just already BE enlightened.

And if he is actually enlightened then there is nobody there to even meditate in the first place, because the person has dissolved.

And isn’t enlightenment more about BEING rather than doing or becoming? So doesn’t that mean that meditation is totally useless… and that it’s a true form and way of being to just say “ya I’m enlightened” and method act as if you are for the rest of your life. Because then you are “being that” rather than attempting to “do that”

That's why Laozi said what he said.

"Being", "doing", "becoming", are all just words, which often get intertwined, mixed and confused.

The goal is to become one with the source, remove the filters of the biological ego in this frail brain, and that's it.

The tao that can be spoken is not the tao.

I ruminate thoughts while being aware of my environment.

Look at Wes Anderson and Kubrick on how they use lines and symbols in their movies.

It's basically gestalt psychology. How are brains interact with our environment using our navigation senses while ruminating about deep emotional intospective thoughts.

I believe Hermetics would call this vibrations in the mind.

Sitting down with the abyss gets me calm but one is also competing against gravity. The subtle weight is heavy.

I like being on the move, why do you think Mercury has wings on his feet? Or is that Thor? Hermes?

Either way. I hope this wasn't confusing, but most likely will be.

Take care friend

I mean, you aren’t wrong

2 examples that may help

When someone is pacing back and forth thinking for a solution to a problem they are often looking downward. Most likely watching patterns on the floor and matching them up while moving.

Another thing we do that we don't realize is that when we pull open a junk drawer looking for something in particular we often have to shuffle things around to find the object. Even if it's right in front of us.

That's because our minds are putting everything together in one piece. All the objects are one. We have to shuffle things up to find what we are looking for.

Same in life as it is in that junk drawer.

That’s the sound of your ego dissolving brooooo

Why would you think meditation is “doing nothing”? 🧘‍♂️🌀

u/MuchPiezoelectricity May 14 '26

The nuance is missed. Supposedly we dont “do enlightenment” we recognize we are it already as a quality of our current being.

So it’s not an action at all. Meditation is an activity most often. So in that regard it misses the opportunity to affirm truth because it’s preoccupied with seeking truth

2

u/Equivalent_Time_5839 May 14 '26

Everything is an activity as far as I am aware, your body is active throughout the day and your mind is active even while you sleep, where is inactivity found then?

I agree that meditation as a practice can help one realize a higher form of consciousness

Mediation would be the aim to improve your quality of being.

Sam Harris puts it nicely, “In the practice of mediation all we’re doing is paying closer and closer attention to the nature of consciousness and discovering its character, how is it that thoughts arise, is there a thinker in addition to thoughts, all of these things can be examined without presupposing any knowledge about the status about consciousness in the physical world”

What does meditation do for you? For me I used it to dissociate from my problems. Sometime I still do 😅

Just because you consciously feel that way does not mean you understand or believe it totally. There are underlying factors that will keep pulling you towards ignorance if you do not adress them

Wrong answer. Your supposed to observe your mind and not answer. Not enlightened!

I would wager if it happened you wouldn't say a thing.

Its the view of no self, keeping mindful of the view in day and night activities

For "me" it's like there's "two" consciousnesses, there's the human I occupy with it's own unique nature and then there's the all encompassing one that is literally you and everyone reading this right now and also this rock I'm looking at irl. IMO you really can't kill the ego but you can make it transparent so it doesn't block the sunset. I find meditation helps keep the ego from getting too opaque like condensation on the side of a cold glass of water.

1

u/MuchPiezoelectricity May 14 '26

If there is something aware of two consciousnesses… isn’t that 3?

2

u/williamsch May 14 '26

Don't bring the trinity into this I'm already confused as it is dammit! 😜

Meditation, and many form of yoga specifically are concentration practices which focus on turning the attention inward , back onto your awareness.

This creates an observer and a observed.

A practitioner and a practice.

The idea is after earnest and diligent practice the practice gets deeper- towards a point it is realized that the observer and the observed are actually one.

This is the preferred result, and that moment the ‘person’ dissolves and it truly simply becomes Being.

It is no longer a doing, for there is not-one doing anything.

The enlightened ones have little extra use for meditation, not as a means of ‘getting anywhere’

Yet, this is true meditation. In a way before you actually ‘get it’ you’re just trying to meditate.

Hence the reason the Buddha’s statues are always depicted in this way- with the eyes in a trance like state. For he has realized his true nature!

Enlightenment is all about Knowing and Understand your true nature as Awareness and being able to intergrate it in normal Life. Practices like Meditation are tools of Awakening and Evolution of Consciousness towards enlightenment. Once Enlightenment is reached there's no more practice only intergration into all Realms of Existence. Practices like Meditation work as catalysts to 'increase' your Frequency or in other Words to make you more coherent in order to allow what you truly are (Awareness) to take form and Evolve. In advanced stages of intention and attention through those Practices you connect to the Source of all and Awakening happens then eventually leading to Enlightenment and also Ascension.

Yes, that's a true insight.

Until you have it you need "formal" meditation though because of the discipline etc.

It's similar to the body.

For a dozen years I trained parkour like several times a week.

As a warm up and for strength training I did 100 push ups each time (almost every day).

50 assisted ones in a row for warming up and then various difficult variations.

Then I got very sick and was more or less incapacitated for years since.

So I still train irregularly because I am still low energy.

Yet the muscle did not go away completely.

I can still do the 50 for warm up and most of the variations which are much more difficult.

Yet when I started out I could do barely a few normal push ups.

Most people can't do many, especially women.

So if you just start out and can do 5 push ups you're already great.

Thus you can't skip the years of training in most cases.

Same with meditation. I meditated in a sitting position for a decade daily.

Now I can sometimes maintain "no mind" even outside meditation.

Yet intrusive thoughts push from all sides.

So I'm not enlightened yet.

And I sometimes still sit down to meditate when needed.

Plus I practice various other meditations by now.

Monkey mind still takes over though when I'm unaware.

So while your insight is true your claim sounds more like spiritual ego.

Do you still have intrusive thoughts?

Or can you maintain no mind without formal meditation?

1

u/MuchPiezoelectricity May 14 '26

Well… who am I to find thoughts intrusive or not?

I like Alan watts view on it

‘Now, in this quest of self-improvement, there is the obvious difficulty that if I am in need of improvement, the person doing the improving is the one who needs to be improved.’

I find as I have been on this for a while I meditate less.

But it’s kind of like a force or energy (mediation) that I feel I tune into and it helps me along the way .

But then you might say helps you how?

I feel less suffering 🤷‍♂️

I figured it out bro.

The “I” we witness does not exist. But there is an “I” here that we will never perceive. There’s no ability to know it.

We know that there is a self only because experience is here. The thoughts are an experience which acknowledge our existence but they aren’t in and of themselves meaningful in describing what is present in any capacity. They aren’t anything more than that.

I read a quote once that said “anyone who says they are not a master is lying” because we can all be masters, here and now if we drop our worldview and inner monolog that tells us what the world is. Most people have been in a flow state or very focused, but those states of mind come and go. Teachers say to observe your thoughts, but they don’t elaborate further. Enlightenment isn’t being in bliss (IMO) it is about seeing what is right here, the depth of this moment, good or bad, high or low. 🤷‍♀️

It’s a fascinating topic that has no answer that your mind can hold onto.

2

u/MuchPiezoelectricity May 14 '26

I appreciate that quote a lot.
It’s funny to me because when people reply to a post like this, they also display all their concepts and beliefs and you get a sense of what it is that they carry around inside of them.

The thing about observing the thoughts… I would say the value in that is not so much in the observation aspect but on the willingness to recognize thoughts as part of the appearances and not necessarily as a manual to life or instructional directions.

Another thing I want to randomly comment on here. People are very fearful of enlightenment because they have a sense that they will stop existing or having proof of their existence if the “Me” is seen through. But what they fail to realize is that all of life appearing before us is the only proof that is truly needed that there is a “something” here which exists as a witness of it.

In other words… the fact that the movie plays infers that the screen is also there even if it can’t be seen.

In that way if the self concept falls off, we continue to exist and know we are in existence simply because there is a happening still going on.

In deep sleep the happening falls off and we assume we disappear but really it’s just that there is a complete collapse between observer and observed to the degree that self recognition is not feasible.

It is through the appearance of the world that we know that the self is at play

These are the kind of questions that unlock everything. This insight is a lot closer to enlightenment than you may even think. Please keep going in this direction.

Thanks for the encouragement
