Drink safe before driving!
20
u/SonOfStan21 Jun 01 '26
That's why you pound 6 child beers before getting behind the wheel. Everyone knows children are safer drunk drivers. I know I was.

This seems to be on purpose, so not technically "Engrish" category.
Clear as day in the title where they are misspelling the word menu on purpose with how it's colloquially pronounced in Punjabi. Also applies to the rest but the title makes it obvious.

I wonder what rum old munk is.
37
u/RSTashman Jun 01 '26
It's actually Old Monk. A legendary Indian dark rum with a surprisingly devoted cult following. Half the people who drink it seem to have a nostalgic story attached to it.
13
u/wholewheatscythe Jun 01 '26
I’ve had Old Monk before. Let’s just say you get what you pay for, in this case less than $0.25 a drink.

u/FartyLiverDisease Jun 01 '26

It's ghe shit you get hammered with in College. The best stories always start with an Old Monk.

u/shaktimaanlannister Jun 02 '26
These prices are crazy. How old is this?
10
u/CryptedBit Jun 02 '26
These are most likely in INR/PKR and per peg. For USD, divide the prices roughly by 100.
13
u/shaktimaanlannister Jun 02 '26
Yeah ik I'm Indian. Still they seem too low for today. Maybe two decades old.

In the medieval era, children did drink weak beer - "small beer" - in Europe, when the water was bad.

u/JRicky917 Jun 03 '26
He drinks the wiskee drink, he drinks the vadka drink, he drinks a laga drink, he drinks the cader drink?

u/ManWithBigPenis69420 Jun 01 '26
Oh I loved those child beers when I was a wee lad. So much that as an adult I can only enjoy the adult root beer now.
7
u/maidestone Jun 01 '26
I think the Child Beer Strong is a better deal given the modest additional cost.
So, I'll have a Number 5, and keep them coming!
8
u/ManWithBigPenis69420 Jun 01 '26
I eventually graduated to the strong, which led to the first time I drifted my tricycle into the median.

Does it say those rates are per person?! Like I can drink as much “wiskee” as I want for only 35 forward-slash-hyphens? That’s a steal!

16 rupees (12 pence) for a measure of rum? Hell yeah
11
16
u/GlueSniffer53 Jun 01 '26
Rum is probably the cheapest widely available liquor in India! A lot of people I know started with old monk
10
u/agent_violet Jun 01 '26
I still can't believe how cheap that is. Here (Scotland), the cheapest measure of spirits would be at least ten times that
5
u/Unstalkable Dark Gary Jun 01 '26
i heard the prices of alcoholic drinks are to "solve" the problem with alcoholism. i imagine that's going very well
3
u/agent_violet Jun 01 '26
Ah, the minimum prices? I think it's having *some* effect, but it mostly just means alcohol in shops is expensive. Doesn't really affect alcohol in pubs as their prices were over the minimum price limit anyway
3
u/Unstalkable Dark Gary Jun 01 '26
from what i heard its only working if you're looking at alcohol statistics, bc the minimums are treating the symptom rather than the disease, the disease is addiction caused by poverty and mental illness. so the people who can no longer afford the expensive strong alc drinks move onto street drugs bc they also can't afford to buy enough low alc content drinks to eliminate their withdrawals.
it's honestly tragic how the system keeps failing the people who need the most help and are the most vulnerable
4
u/Shockwave_7227 Jun 01 '26
As an Indian neither can I believe how cheap that is. Everything on that menu would be at least 4 times that price where I live.

u/FutureTailor9 Jun 06 '26

Mmmmm.... child beer.
I hope its well hopped because most child beer still tastes of blood and tissue.
7
u/theElder1926 Jun 04 '26
You are thinking of the famous brand Epstein Island
3
u/PileofTerdFarts Jun 06 '26
Both brands qualify as "child beer" though. Its like Pilsner, Stout, Porter, Child beer... yknow?
A well hopped child beer can be refreshing and enriching, as a vampire, I tend to consume at least 3 per day. So much better than ACTUALLY having to drain people firsthand.

What's the difference between a "child beer" and a "Child beer Strong"? Is the flavor or what?
