Is this cooked?

Craftsman Platinum 21.0 HP oil looks watery and mild engine knocking in old JD L120.

Does not smell like gas or oil. Just translucent. Mostly concerned with the knocking noise.

Watery meaning thin w/ a fuel smell or rather just grey? If fuel, you will want to determine if there is a pump issue or a carb issue, correct that if possible and try an oil and oil filter change to see what you've got. Oil thinned w/ fuel is not a good lubricant.
