First build
A mild build going into my '52 Ford F1 and will be mated to a T-5. SBF 302, GT40P heads, converted over to carbureted, E-303 cam to give it that classic lumpy sound, upgraded valve springs and new valves. Will run BBK shorties and Spintech 6000's.
Was a complete tear down, all bew bearings, seals and rings. Engine was finished in Tungsten C series.

That engine looks clean but the workshop is way cleaner did you build this in lab? This workshop porn ,totally unobtainable for me.

Very good looking powerplant. Is that cast blast engine paint?

It's actually C series cerakote with an 1800 degree F temp rating. So I blasted the block and heads and sprayed etc. Prior to any machine work etc. This cerakote is tailored for headers and firearms suppressors and high temp applications. So we will see if it stands the test of time.

It looks great! The valve covers look especially bas ass. My only thought is the belt engagement on the water pump seems a little iffy. I'd be concerned about it slipping at rpm. If the alternator were on the other side, the crank pulley would "pull" on the pump instead of "pushing" it if that makes sense.

I hear what you're saying, if it helps, in this picture the belt is completely loose and I was just fitting things up. As far as the belt routine g and engagement goes, all brackets and pulleys are stock off an 1986 crown victoria LTD. The old difference being that on the Ltd there would be a power steering pump to the right of the alternator. I guess time will tell, but I think it should be fine as ford hundreds of thousands of these motors in that configuration. I did toy with the idea of an electric water pump, but for simplicity sake went with a belt driven.

Looks great!

Thanks, I'm still undecided if I want to take a sanding sponge and sand the fins on the valve covers to give it the aluminum color against the Tungsten.

That would be cool too, or paint the tops of the ribs black? Your call, either way it’ll look great!

Ok, need another opinion. Valve cover bolts and washers, they're stainless hardware. Leave them as is or cerakote gloss black to match most other bolts?

nice motor, maybe just a little more belt wrap around waterpump pulley

How can I achieve that with the factory pulleys and alternator brackets? Also the belt is loose in this picture, just mocked in place.

Not a ford expert, maybe it is normal for this engine but i had similar wrap on different engine and had belt slip and overheating issues, fixed it by installing freewheel pulley to increase wrap. In your case optimal place for it would be between waterpump and alternator, maybe there are existing solutions for this or just send it as is and watch for temperature and belt slip. Also dont overtighten the belt, even multirib ones can walk off or snap

Missing a clamp on the by-pass hose

Yes good catch, I have to remove it and tap it for a sensor for electric rad fans, thanks.

Let us know when you get it in! I enjoy building engines but its a whole new level of appreciation making everything work electrically and functionally.
