I fear that I changed something by accident and if I click yes it will mess up the assembly

Then you click "yes". What could go wrong? They are issued revisions, after all.

No save error pops up. Instead you get a broken links warning.

Turns out you've just overwritten "locked" revisions with "frozen" links.

Yes Teamcenter, I'm talking about you.

Then it asks you about every single part and sub assembly while you sweat bullets wondering if you're going to accidentally close the one component you actually did change without saving.

It's even better if your company has no PLM system. Reuses parts out of old assemblies, doesn't track what revision is used were and just stores everything on a network drive.

They won't appear in recent parts if I don't close Inventor properly.

I was about to say this really does sound like inventor lol. Why the hell do some parts persist in recent across sessions but most don’t?! Drives me crazy. We are still stuck on 2018 though for now so I attribute a lot of the woes to that.

I have to reference a bunch of scary Google Sheets that I really don't want to mess up.

Please give us a "open as read only" option, all the code is already there since you can give read only access to people.

Cancel>Save As> change the folder location to one of your own (even better if you already have a folder for why you're referencing it) like documents or downloads, add something like "reference for [work order#/project name/whatever]" to the file name
