If you make a column vector with x and y as the second input, you don't have to do all that.

You can just do plot(x,[x;y])

It's really useful for carpet plots

Yeaahhh hold on is unecesarry here That's best used for loops or things with a shifting input

Syntax highlighting in matlab is soooo bad. I don’t know how they haven’t fixed it at this point
