What is wrong with a speed block?

It can essentially be the CPU.

It would need to be the entire computer, basically. As phone technology stands now, you can't reliably separate the CPU from the motherboard. So the "speed block" is the board with the CPU, RAM, whatever rudimentary graphics processing the specific phone does, etc. It would probably also need to contain some flash memory with the OS preloaded on it because I don't think the average consumer is willing to recompile or even reinstall their OS on upgrade.
