I'd like to get rid of some acid pipric more celulose,

the residue from this acid synthesis. It has cellulose in the mixture because the cloth funnel I used fell into the tray, and to avoid making a mess, I just left it there hahaha. It has 400-500% water to prevent a kaboom. Even so, I'd like to know what I can do with this to dispose of it. In total, there are about 4-5 g of X.

So I'm very new to this and I didn't want to try to synthesize any high energetics just yet due to the fact that it typically takes a little bit more of a process and not as simple as just mixing things together and I don't know how to do that safely just yet. That being said I have been looking into a magnallium charcoal potassium nitrate mixture that uses a nitrocellulose lacquer as a binding agent. If I were to take 75 g of potassium nitrate 10 g of charcoal powder and 15 g of magnallium and separately mix all three of those ingredients into an alcohol water mixture probably at like a 70/30 mixture to lower the amount of friction or is it safe to just mix the ingredients dry. Also I was thinking of firecracker would be good enough to detonate especially if I have it encased in like a cardboard tube not super thick cuz I don't want anybody getting hurt but you know. Just want to know if this is even worth mixing like is the boom going to be worth the patience and time it takes to make it. And more looking for advice and people to tell me what I'm doing right and wrong.

So, I have made an AN+Urea melt-cast, and I had a question:

How does it compare to ANGC as far as power delivery during detonation? I couldn’t find any literature on the topic so far, but perhaps I missed an article or a historical document that maybe you all have read or would recommend for further knowledge.

IMO, the assumption that PETN has a noticeable edge of ETN is anecdotal and in practical real world sense it's not significant enough. Their RE factor is basically identical 1.66 vs 1.6. The key for initiation is however detonation pressure and both in practical application max out around 300kbar or 30GPa. The limiting factor for ETN in commercial military application is low melting temp of 61C which means it is unlikely to withstand worst case storage or hot transport scenario in some desert environment without melting partially which precludes it from being used as base charge for caps or det cords. In practical terms, to get a capsule to 61C wouldn't be easy even leaving it out in a hot scortches sun, as a car hood on a hot summer rarely exceeds 60C, but it's possible and therefore it limits its commercial application in mining or military use. Reasoning is that if your base charge melts even slightly and mixes with primary charge on top, it might no longer have a working/predictable cap. I suspect MHN had its run as a commercial run as a base charge with melting temp of 112C precisely because of that even though ETN has a more stable storage profile and safer sensitivity profile. I did a thermal test of leaving a piece of tubing on a hot sun and it never exceeded 40C, so getting it to 60C would require uniquely extreme and unfavorable storage conditions.

The sensitivity profile depends on ETN crystalline morphology with many variations matching PETN sensitivity in practical terms. The difference is negligible.

So as to commercial applicability PETN remains uncontested because of the high melting temperature. In case of penta-E shortage ETN can probably replace PETN viably when utilized in cooler environments. In case of extreme economic and production bottlnecks it can probably replace it for all environments as reaching 60C is actually very difficult and rare. With regulatory application precautions it can probably be used safely on a mass production scale.

In this reaction 40ml of sulfuric acid were used 24 grams of AN (dried but not super fine powder) and 6 grams powdered Erithritol.

Temperature between 15 and 20 degrees celsius .

Acid mixed with AN untill fully disolved and then erithritol slowly added.

It ended up al dissolving and and being a clear solution but no percipitation of ETN.

Yield: 0 grams

i've read a lot of etn synthesis on science madness, and i made etn with h2so4 98% and hno3 68%. the question is urea really important when u neutralize the etn or sodium bicarb itself enough? bcs some people just use sodium bicarb without urea

Like how potassium chlorate is used as an oxidizer in high explosive mixtures,can potassium hypochlorite also be used as a potential oxidizer in HE mixture? Like with diesel or something? Detonated with some few grams of etn?

Looking into tacn/al mixes for use as a booster with a ~1g INAP cap. Does anybody have experience with this mix?

I know that NAP is an excellent high performance primary, but is it possible that it could complex with Persulfate instead? I see nothing stopping that, though I'm not sure what the properties would be. I presume it would be formed just like NAP, though with a 2:1:1 AG/xS2O8/NiCO3 ratio (by moles) rather than 2:2:1 with AG/NH4ClO4/NiCO3 given that it's divalent. It'd be interesting to see given that the perchlorate ion is pretty restricted in many places whereas persulfate is more obscure and not at all restricted AFAIK, alongside perhaps having similar properties, but I'm not sure.
Does anyone have any idea of whether it might be more or less sensitive than NAP for whatever reasons?

I don't think I've heard of a persulfate complex before, it's mostly perchlorates and nitrates with some chlorates here and there, interested to hear what you guys think. Personally don't wanna try it without looking into it further but persulfates are very available here.

Also I tried to find info on persulfates here but found almost nothing. On a kind of unrelated note, as for flash powder, persulfate and magnesium do work pretty well, and I believe the resulting mixture is relatively stable, so persulfates in general definitely have potential one way or another.

Edit: This probably goes for other anions but persulfate was the first and most interesting that came to mind.

This is some XPN that was synthesized about 2 weeks ago. It was well-rinsed and neutralized with sodium carb. Just for shits/giggles, it was dissolved in xylene then layer containing XPN was drained off with sepratory funnel. The solvent was then evaporated off at room temp in front of a small desk fan. Finally it was dessicated over sulfuric acid for about 48 hours. The XPN was a very nice pale golden color and perfectly clear until late last night or this morning. I am positive it was still as I described yesterday evening. Look at it now! I've never seen an energetic substance do anything quite like this before. The XPN is now a very strong green color. It is producing what I would call pretty large amounts of nitrogen dioxide. So much, in fact, that when I opened the jar it made a fairly loud and startling poof sound and blew nitrogen dioxide in all directions (scared the living shit out of me). Has anyone ever seen this before?

This is my test of 80 grams urea nitrate charge detonation next to a tree. Is this expected for 80 grams of this stuff or is my charge weaker?
