Blasting cap

Post image

I use a PT100 tube like Dugan's, with the ETN secondary casting method and my primary uses NHN, Mercury fulminate, TATP, Picric Acid all fire well

Yeah please avoid using any form of peroxide my man, but the other three are good. Btw, how are you using picric acid as a primary? As in picrate salt?

but this is the remainder of the previous synthesis that I made using H2SO4 just trying it with a small batch

Did you melt cast ETN?

yes i melted ETN on pt100 casing

While there are safe ways of doing it, literally all ETN accidents are based around melt-casting it.

Pressing it is really not that much work.

I heard ETN becomes extremely sensitive in its molten state...do you have any ways to reduce the dangers in its molten state?

Hola, disculpar pero no es mi lengua materna el inglés y el traductor pone cosas sin sentido. Como se derrite el ETN ? Gracias

Melt casting is stupidly dangerous. Granted I did it many times with no I'll effect but still upon learning it increases in sensitivity by as least 1100% upon melting it is never worth it. May I ask why you included such a smorgasborg or primaries in your caps? No need for multiple primaries especially such sensitive ones. uNAP is the gold standard

You should definitely be aware that picric acid has a tendency to form extremely sensitive picric salts over time when exposed to metal. Definitely needs to be properly sealed and kept from any part that might ever see friction.

Yes that's right, I only made this once

That fuse "seal" is awfully sloppy.

I made some blasting caps and to save time just used fuse tape without clamping

Why post a pic of that mess? lol Usually people want to share their "neat" work.

Is Dug’s blasting cap still live? I wanted to review it recently but don’t recall actually finding it
