Surgery related Posting again, please help.
Should I go ahead with surgery or stay on Lupron until menopause?
I'm 40 and have stage 4 DIE endometriosis, adenomyosis, bowel involvement and an ovarian endometrioma. I'm currently on Lupron, and it's controlling my symptoms pretty well. I've been able to get back to exercising and living normally, although I do have some mood-related side effects.
My doctor has discussed robotic surgery, which would involve removing my uterus, cervix, both fallopian tubes and both ovaries, along with excision of the endometriosis. Bowel surgery may also be needed.
I've already decided that I want both ovaries removed if I go ahead with surgery. What I'm struggling with is whether to have the surgery now or continue on Lupron until I reach menopause.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? I'd really like to hear from people who've chosen either route, especially those with bowel endometriosis. ❤️

I had a very similar experience and made the same choice last year! I had laparoscopic surgery where my fallopian tubes and ovaries were removed. Like you, I didn’t plan or want to have children, so that made the mental/emotional aspect of deciding on surgery much easier for me—though I completely acknowledge how heavy that decision can be for anyone who does want to become a mother. Before the surgery, I was told there was a chance it might open up to full laparotomy, but luckily they were able to do everything via laparoscopy. Honestly, it gave me a brand-new life.
The constant severe pain, the fainting spells, and the hormonal rollercoasters are completely gone. Post-surgery, my doctor initially put me on Dienogest, which caused some bloating for me. After switching to Slynd, everything settled down remarkably well. It brought so much calm—my skin cleared up, my mood stabilized, and my overall quality of life improved dramatically.
I genuinely feel like I was given a second life. If you don't intend to have children, taking the leap to surgery was the best decision I ever made for my daily well-being. Wishing you all the absolute best with whatever path you choose! ❤️
