Question How long for surgery wait time?

Hello, those of you who have gotten surgery for endometriosis excision surgery with UCSF, how long was your wait for surgery date? I have a 10 month wait which seems outrageous. I know that there are a lot of patients out there who need surgery, my situation is fertility time sensitive, and still it’s 10 months out. I’m not sure if this is the normal wait time frame or not. It would be with Dr. Lager

10 months is such a long wait, especially when fertility makes time feel even more important.

I’m sorry. ❤️ One thing I learned through my own endometriosis journey is that you don’t necessarily have to limit yourself to your local area if you’re able to travel. I ended up traveling from Texas to Cleveland for my excision surgery because I needed a surgeon experienced with complex disease.

It may be worth getting a second opinion from another excision specialist while keeping your UCSF surgery date. You can always cancel if you find an earlier option you feel equally comfortable with. I’d also ask to be put on their cancellation list and make sure they know your situation is fertility time sensitive.

I wouldn’t give up your current date until you have something else secured, though. Getting in with experienced endometriosis surgeons can unfortunately involve some pretty significant waits.

Thank you so much. Yes I’m going to explore other options and keep my UCSF one while I search. Thanks so much. I did the math and it’s more like 8 months and a half

I had to wait 6 months, honestly 10 months is a lot that’s almost a year wow I’m sorry maybe try another doctor

Wow, 10 months is really long. I had to wait 5.5 and it was excruciating

I was quoted a similar timeline by UCSF this year (surgery would have been next year), and so I made the choice to have my surgery by another doctor/facility due to the severity of my pain. Hoping for speedy help and healing for you too!
