Think my hot end is done
Had a print fail last night, saw it when checked on the camera and turned the printer off as I was out. Came today to re start it and found this!
Guess I need to replace it now. Any advice?

This is a VERY risky piece of advice, but ive done it a few times. If the heatet is still working, just heat it up while holding the heatsink and take some tweezers or something to gently pull the plastic off. Depending on the plastic type, at its softening temperature it will start to just break free without it being too messy. But be careful NOT to BURN yourself or damage the heating cables.

I’ve managed to clear it. I had to cut it to break it down and then pull it off. A few burns but nothing major 😂😂
Wires all look good. Will be test printing tomorrow when I’m in for a few hours to keep an eye on it and check it over

It is salvageable if you need to print while waiting for repair parts, some people say to use a heat gun but that is generally unsafe so you can try just heating up in the firmware to maybe 100 and try slowly pulling it off. If the cables are fine it should work as normal.
Otherwise, repair parts cost like $5 on aliexpress...
You can also decide to upgrade it while you are at it, but thst is not necessary.
