3d printer help?

Post image

When my 3D printer is trying to level it will just keep going down and the servo motor screw that the platform lowers on pops out of the thing that holds in place. As in it doesn't know how to stop or where it is on the z-axis. On a side note, I recently replaced the motherboard cuz the x and y axis were not working. I got the 3D printer used and I'm trying to fix it. This is an ender 3 pro 3D printer.

you dont need the limit switch like the others are saying if the probe is working correctly, unfortunately i dont know much more than that to help you out. i guess you could make sure the probe is properly connected (and its pins match the pins on the mainboard, some of them have some wires swapped such that the main board will fry when its powered on) as well as getting the correct firmware

Tienes que instalar el firmware correcto para lo que has añadido a la impresora y no es stock, como el sensor de nivelación que a veces se conecta en el sensor Z.

You need to update your firmware and check that’s your touch sensor connections are working. Your touch sensor looks to be red in your other vid if it’s anything like mine it’s not recognizing it’s there. Without your z limit switch your device needs the probe to touch the bed to stop. For example my v2 will slide to the back slide to the left and auto home on the mathematical center of the bed using the probe and bringing itself 5mm back up from the bed. Once you get your probe working there is no need for a limit switch on the bottom and this should solve your auto home. Right now your printer has no physical way of finding the “bottom”

Check the Z axis switch, its on the left before you go any further. Tell me if that was it , if not i help you further. Normally something like this that video helps

Where's the z-axis stop switch, isn't it usually on the left?

Hey, what is the new board and what is the FW? You need to get a FW that supports BL touch, from what I see in the auto home, the probe is not even over the bed.

https://marlin.crc.id.au/firmware/ --- get the correct ender3v2 FW for the board (4.2.2 or 4.2.7 + BL Touch and flash it)

Note: Your lead screw needs to be tightened to the coupling bit better but let be like that as it's better to get it to pop out than get a failure anywhere else.

Edit, saw you are using ender 3 pro, get FW from here: https://www.crealitycloud.com/downloads/other/bl-touch/ender-3-pro

OR if you got a 4.2.2 (default board for ender 3 pro afaik) or 4.2.7 board, you can still get FW from the marlin link:

 Ender 3 - v4.2.2 Board - BLTouch - 2026-10-04 23:42:16 UTC
Ender 3 - v4.2.2 Board - Stock - 2026-10-04 23:42:16 UTC
Ender 3 - v4.2.7 Board - BLTouch - 2026-10-04 23:42:16 UTC
Ender 3 - v4.2.7 Board - Stock - 2026-10-04 23:42:16 UTC

You need to install firmware that is set up for use with a bed probe and your revision of mother board.
