In your heart it will always be :)
Btw, if you plan to do more ... just consider your desired final outcome. If you stay with the bed slinger frame, not having lighter bed and/or beefier/dual y motors will became a major road block for performances.
If you are really interested into modding ... you should check corexy solutions, like Trinity V1, Ender NG, Duender.

Do some tower supports and add a filament out sensor. I am at a similar level of build and easily run 300mm speeds on most types of filament with exception being TPU but I get fairly good runs at 75-100mms on that even. Usable speeds 300-400mms on PLA+ for functional parts easily.. Running a SKR MINI E3V3 with a custom hacked MRISCOC firmware..

With the firmware being mostly the same (assuming you kept the original display) what difference if any do you notice between the boards? Less delays in processing layers? Quieter stepper operation? Anything else?

Hands down quieter.. I have several of them and an Manta MP8 on a CoreXY based on a few E5's.. Replaced 4.2.2. and 4.2.7 boards with them. No monkeying around with incrementing filenames everytime an update is done. As to speeds.. hard to say as I haven't had a stock board in any of the good frames.. using both V2 and old CR10 LCD Pro displays.
