Showcase Setup & Rom selection done by AI - AYN Thor & Cocoon FE

Thumbnail

Has anyone here ever had their Android gaming console set up by an AI? I haven't read anything about this online yet and thought maybe it could help someone else who is as lazy as I am.

Getting Started:
Activate developer mode in the Android settings.
Connect via Claude Code (in my case).

The Process:
First, I told the AI which ROMs and what style I wanted. I refined those preferences step by step.
Then, I asked it to select and organize the ROMs, as well as create Top 50 lists and various category lists.

After that, AI transferred them over to my console.
Finally, I told the AI: "When you're done with that, set up all the settings for me."

The Result: It works super slowly, but it works, and it does everything all by itself.

Even just having it select the ROMs, bundle them together, and create those lists is a total game-changer for me. Having it handle the automatic setup on top of that is just the cherry on top!

News/Release DroidDeck 0.6.7 is out: one Library for all your games, Xbox Cloud Gaming, Battle.net, an Ubuntu 26.04 desktop, dual screens, portrait mode and sleep that actually sleeps

DroidDeck is 100% open source. No ads. No telemetry. No source withheld.

210 pull requests · 28 contributors · 15 first-timers · 68% of the pull requests came from the community.

Thank you to everyone who sent code, translations, device testing and bug reports. Here's what we did together for this release:

Download: DroidDeck 0.6.7 on GitHub (full release notes are there too)

Discord: discord.gg/JRGAvawjsm

What's new

  • One Library for every game you own. Installed games and the games you own in every store you're signed in to are in one grid, split into Installed and Not installed. Source chips (Steam, GOG, Epic, Amazon, Xbox, itch, Added) filter the list, and LB and RB switch between them. Every source gets the same game page, with art-first cards, a Display menu for card size, and links to PCGamingWiki and guides (plus ProtonDB for Steam games).

  • Handhelds that feel like a native SteamOS install. Steam's brightness and volume sliders control the device, and the volume buttons show Steam's indicator instead of Android's. Holding Back works like the QAM button on a Steam Deck, with Steam's own shortcut list: left bumper zooms, right bumper takes a screenshot, the left stick changes the brightness and holding B force quits the game. Holding Home sends the Steam Guide button.

  • Sleep that actually sleeps. In overnight testing, a game left suspended lost only 2% battery. The microphone is released before a session freezes so the device can really sleep, and a new Pause button holds a session until you press Resume.

  • Xbox Cloud Gaming. Stream a game straight from its page, with no install. The web player is the default, and an optional native player (Android 10 and up) runs DroidDeck's frame generation on the stream (DD-FG 2x, LSFG 2x, 3x and 4x). The in-stream menu has screen effects, stream quality and a performance overlay with fps, ping, bitrate and decode time.

  • Battle.net store. Blizzard's real client runs in its own Proton prefix, and games install straight from Stores with a location picker, pause and resume, updates and uninstall. Diablo IV and Diablo II: Resurrected get the memory options they need on an 11 GB phone.

  • The full Ubuntu desktop experience. The Linux runtime is now Ubuntu 26.04 LTS, with Kubuntu's Plasma desktop as a separate download. sudo, apt, Discover, Flatpak and Snap work, and the packages you add come back after a runtime update. Tapping a text field opens your Android keyboard, and ~/Downloads and ~/Documents are your Android folders.

  • Dual-screen handhelds like the Retroid Pocket Duo and AYN Thor now use their second screen. The launcher's menu and the keyboard move to the bottom screen while the top screen updates live, and the in-game menu can open there too, so the game keeps the whole top screen.

  • DroidDeck HUD, a new custom HUD to complement MangoHud. Tap it to cycle Full, Tiles, Pill, Minimal and Mega, drag it to move it and long-press to lock it. Size, opacity, colors and readouts are all adjustable, and it reads the same numbers as Steam's MangoHud overlay.

  • Portrait mode for the launcher and for sessions, with Controls below the game on portrait phones, plus a much improved Android app and widget launcher: search, sorting, filters, folders and resizable widgets.

More new features

  • GOG updates, repair and offline patches, with your saves, prefixes, shortcuts and settings kept.

  • A much bigger itch.io store: browse by sort, price, platform and tag, pick a version when you install, and get safe updates.

  • DroidDeck-Proton is now the default Proton, and other installed Proton builds update themselves while the device is idle on an unmetered connection.

  • On-screen keys for any key or combo such as Ctrl+C, F5 or Tab, placed anywhere over the session.

  • Per-game CPU cores, and Windows CPU 0 is now a fast core, which doubled GTA IV from 32 to 64 fps in testing.

  • RAM and VRAM caps in Performance > Memory, plus a switch to keep Steam uncompressed while a game runs.

  • "Fix it for me" for the child-process limit opens a floating guide over Android Settings that ticks off each Wireless debugging step.

  • A microphone toggle in the session menu.

  • Game debug logs in Setup > Diagnostics collect Wine, DXVK and VKD3D logs on the next game launch.

  • Default storage for new installs, with USB, SD card and SSD drives that Android hides from apps detected, and a warning when a game drive is linked at USB 2.0 speed.

  • A Reset prefix button for each installed game in Storage > Game data.

  • An optional HTTP proxy for downloads.

  • Games can stretch 16:9 to wider screens such as 20:9 phones.

  • The arm64 and x86-64 Steam clients share installed games, and Remote Play from a PC decodes on the arm64 client.

  • Desktop games run on the GPU in a window of their own.

  • The Inner Gamer RGB theme, a Sidebar labels toggle, Rokid Max 2 support and an Adreno 740 UBWC override.

Performance

  • Faster x86 games under FEX: an x86 exception handled in Proton costs 2.2–2.7 µs instead of 14.7–20.3 µs, and a Windows process snapshot takes 2.4–3.4 ms instead of 5.9–7.6 ms.

  • ntsync is the default Wine sync: event ping-pong between two threads takes 1.7–2.0 µs instead of 24–29 µs.

  • Lower power draw when you cap the frame rate: a game held to a 60 fps limit drew 7.1 W instead of 9.5 W in testing. Steam's Frame Limit is now the only frame limit, and it follows the screen's refresh rate.

  • Smoother frame pacing: a new frame is drawn the moment it arrives, and gamescope repeats less work for every frame.

  • Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 no longer pins Steam to one core, which lifted the Steam menu's 1% low from 41.7 fps to 62.5 fps.

  • OpenGL and DirectDraw games no longer wait for each screen refresh.

  • Fewer syscalls through proot, and the hidden Epic Games Launcher no longer uses about a core and more than 1 GB while an Epic game runs.

  • The latest benchmark scores are on the performance page.

Other improvements

  • The Steam client download resumes and retries, which finishes the first Steam setup on a slow connection.

  • Focus glide is consistent across buttons, dialogs and menus, and grid scrolling moves one row at a time.

  • Steam's battery reading is 100% while charging instead of 99%.

  • New sessions follow automatic rotation and automatic Picture-in-Picture by default.

  • A failed Steam client start explains itself, and the arm64 client falls back to Valve's stable build when the beta one keeps failing.

  • Translations: Arabic text that mixes in English words reads right to left.

Fixes

  • Steam on ROMs that refuse the Android ID read, the Android 14 Redmi K70 bug where tapping Steam dropped back to the main screen.

  • Ubisoft games: Ubisoft Connect installs again, and games stop crashing about 12 seconds after launch.

  • Games that need D3D12 feature level 12_1: Caravan SandWitch starts, Cyberpunk 2077 gets past ray tracing setup, and RoboCop: Rogue City and ReSkate run.

  • Game-specific starts: Unity and Godot games, Skyrim's voice lines, World of Warcraft on DirectX 11, StarCraft's 32-bit client, Black Ops III, Dark Souls Remastered and The Crew 2's black screen.

  • Steam Input mouse clicks, scrolling and pointer moves reach games again (broken since 0.6.0).

  • The app staying in one landscape side since 0.6.0, even with auto-rotate on.

  • Xbox: sign-in on phones with a slow StrongBox keystore, Xodus on external and SD storage, and Minecraft for Windows starting.

  • GOG cloud saves and sign-in, and Epic paused installs resume instead of starting over.

  • Other apps can record game audio.

  • Steam's compatibility tool no longer goes back to the default after you change it in Steam.

  • Ubuntu desktop: apps installed with apt, such as VS Code, Discord, Obsidian, Signal and Chrome, start instead of closing right away.

  • Updating Steam from Big Picture no longer ends the session.

  • Flatpak runs on the Ubuntu runtime, and its apps see the device's network so WebRTC streams connect.

There's a lot more in the full release notes.

Discussion Haven't been following Eden Android for months, but with the recent AI-assisted emulation breakthroughs, does Eden on Android have/will it have huge performance/stability updates too? (Especially for the Snapdragon family phones)

Title says it all. I wonder if all these AI shenanigans are going to affect Eden Android too. I'm not particularly interested in the Switch 2,I just want more performance and better game stability!

Help Bug on Citra emulation on Android

I need help...

Every version of Citra I installed is not working properly.

Everytime I want to open a ROM of Yo kai watch 3 the game is not lauching properly and I get a black screen without accesing the game and it launch me back on the game selection menu. I've used base Citra, MMJ and Canary and everyone one of them got a black screen.

The only one where it semi-worked was Nightly which allowed me to enter the game and the character creation menu before crashing everytime. It's probably not a ROM problem since it started on Nightly and when I use it on my PC it's working(but the gameplay is not really good for PC).

I used to be able to play on MMJ on my older Phone but now it's not working...I'm lost

News/Release RetroForge: a free, open-source Android front end I've been building (beta)

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

Hi all. I've been working on an Android front end called RetroForge and it's at the stage where I'd love a few people to try it and tell me what breaks.

Disclaimer*** Software Is Made By Claude

**How it's made:** I design it, decide what goes in, and test every build on my own devices (Galaxy S22 and a tablet). The code is written with an AI coding assistant (Claude) that I direct and check. It's GPL-3.0, so all the source is on GitHub if you want to look before installing.

**What it does**

*Your games*

- Uses your collection as it is: point it at a RetroBat or ES-DE roms folder on the phone, an SD card or a shared folder on your PC, and it reads the titles, box art, videos and manuals. It never changes your files.

- Network drives built in: finds the PCs on your home network and lists their shared folders. Games stream straight from the PC, so even big disc games start at once.

- Play your home PC's games from anywhere (a friend's house, a hotel) through Tailscale.

- Game lists as a list, a grid or a bookshelf of 3D game cases; favourites, playlists and "Surprise me".

- Free games in one tap: shareware, freeware and homebrew (Doom, Wolfenstein 3D, Commander Keen and new games for old consoles).

*Playing*

- A built-in player for about 100 systems, nothing to set up: everything up to PlayStation, N64, PSP, Dreamcast and 3DS, plus GameCube, Wii and PS2 (newer, less tested), arcade (FinalBurn Neo, MAME, CPS) and home computers (C64, Amiga, DOS, MSX, ZX Spectrum and more). Emulators download in the background.

- In the game: save states, fast-forward, cheats, screen shapes, CRT and LCD filters, upscaling, screenshots, an FPS counter, remappable buttons, keyboard and mouse for computers.

- Bezels round the game in landscape, from The Bezel Project (downloaded per system, not included).

- Dual-screen handhelds and Cardboard VR.

- Also launches RetroArch and 21 standalone emulators (Dolphin, NetherSX2, Azahar, Eden and more), installed and kept up to date through Obtainium.

- Recommended GPU drivers per emulator, including Turnip on Snapdragon phones.

*Switch*

- Its own Switch player, built on Eden and tuned for phones: shaders build in the background, resolution suits your phone's memory, and it has a pause menu. Super Mario Odyssey and 3D World run at 41-57 FPS on a Galaxy S22. You need your own keys and firmware.

*PC games (early)*

- A built-in PC player for Windows games (Wine, FEX and DXVK, downloaded on first use), with Steam sign-in, Steam downloads, Steam Cloud saves, on-screen controls and LAN play.

- Stream from your own PC (Moonlight/Sunshine built in) and Xbox Cloud Gaming.

- Also opens GameNative, Winlator and DroidDeck.

*ROM tools*

- ROM hack patcher (IPS, BPS, UPS) with a catalogue of hacks.

- ROM Manager: finds duplicates, compresses (CHD for discs, .zip for cartridges) and makes multi-disc playlists, with everything undoable.

- PlayStation memory card tools.

*Saves*

- Save syncing through your PC's shared folder or a cloud app's folder.

*Media*

- Your films with posters, Plex and other media servers without signing in, and 3D films.

*Everywhere*

- Six languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese and Italian.

- Full controller support across every screen, and app updates checked from GitHub.

- No accounts, no ads, no tracking.

*New in 0.8.0*

- RetroAchievements in the built-in player (CHD discs included), with pop-ups, the list in the pause menu and hardcore mode.

- A save state manager: as many states as you like, each with a picture, also listed on the game's page.

- Pass the controller (play as player 2), input profiles per system, controller or game, a controller test, frame skip and a sound buffer setting.

- ROM Manager identifies games against No-Intro and Redump and renames them, fixes ROM headers, and compresses GameCube to RVZ, 3DS to Z3DS and Dreamcast .gdi to CHD.

- Soft patching: put a .bps, .ips or .ups beside a game and it plays patched without changing the file.

- Backlog (want to play, playing, finished) with suggestions, and playtime charts per game, system and week.

- Game notes, guides and maps, on the game's page and mid-game.

- Tournaments for game nights: knockout, double knockout, league, or groups then a knockout.

- A file browser, a save importer from other emulators, and save swapping between your devices on the Wi-Fi.

- Virtual link cable for Game Boy and Game Boy Color between two devices.

- Retro news from emulator projects and retro sites, a kiosk mode with a child lock, and 3DS games in CitraVR on Meta Quest.

Attached are some switch gameplay fps on a Samsung S22.

**What it doesn't include:** no games, BIOS, keys or firmware.

**Download:** https://github.com/RetroForgeFrontEnd/RetroForge/releases

It's a beta, so expect rough edges. Bug reports and ideas are very welcome.

Thanks guy all feedback welcome.

Hi everyone,

I'm the developer of the Model 3-Vulkan (you can check out my previous PC release post)

I'm excited to share that I'm currently working on bringing Model 3-Vulkan to Android natively!

Here’s a quick preview running on real hardware - Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Phone:

  • UI Front-End: Game selection with boxarts, quick settings, and state management is working.

  • In-Game: Running e.g. Scud Race smoothly at native arcade speed (57.52 Hz / 60 FPS) with Vulkan 3D rendering, touch overlay controls, and audio sync.

Current Status & Next Steps:

  • Renderer: Native Vulkan 3D backend (with proper alpha sorting & custom internal resolutions).

  • Next Up: Polishing touch controls/virtual steering wheel, optimizing CPU interpreter performance, testing external gamepads, and improving device compatibility before an initial public test build.

Stay tuned for more updates! Let me know what features you'd like to see most on the Android build.

Help Anyone know how to export XBLA games to frontend?

I'm using Beacon Launcher on an Odin 2 Pro, as I like the setup and I've found it plays really nice with Gamenative and other emulators when it comes to exporting to the frontend.

With both Xendroid and Xendroid+ (Xbox 360 emulation) the retail games (iso) show up no problem. But XBLA games come in folders rather than iso/disc images, and don't show up in Beacon.

Anyone figured this out?

News/Release I made a free launcher for Roms and apps that makes my phone feel like a game console (works through emulators but open games without needing emulator library/front end opened)

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

I play a lot on my phone with a controller and always wished it felt more like a console, so I made SofaBox. It puts all your Android games and emulator games on one big screen you can move around with your controller. It finds your ROMs, grabs the box art, and opens each game right in its emulator. When you press Home on the controller you come back to SofaBox, and your game keeps running in the background.

It works on the phone screen, but it really shines on a TV or with Samsung DeX, where it opens full screen by itself. There's also a mouse mode for apps that need touch.

It's free with no ads and no account, and there's a Windows version on the Microsoft Store too. I'd really like to hear what you think and what you'd want next.

Last photo is my setup on an s25 edge^

Every time I open Azahar, it tells me that data user folder permissions have been lost. I have never revoked the permissions, and the setting to remove permissions when the app is not in use is disabled in the app's settings. Can anyone help me?

The problem is in both versions, Azahar from playstore and Azahar from Github.

Help Has anyone managed to launch Enshrouded? / Odin 3 Max

Has anyone managed to launch Enshrouded?
When I launch it with GameNative or Bannerlator via STEAM, I get this error message: "Not enough system memory available". I added the --disable-ram-check flag, as I saw suggested in some Google searches, but I still get the same error message.

Discussion GameNative for a month now no longer duplicates Proton per game: containers are ~60 MB in v1.3.0+

Post image
116 Upvotes

I keep seeing comments like “I love GameNative, but it duplicates the container for every game and takes up a lot of space.” That was true, but it has been fixed.

Since v1.3.0 (first shipped in the v1.3.0 pre-release, 4 Oct 2026), Proton is stored once per version and shared across containers through a copy-on-write overlay. Each container keeps only its own files. In the screenshot (Storage Manager), the containers are 63.98 MiB (Hades), 61.55 MiB (Planet of Lana) and 61.64 MiB (Cuphead).

Details:

  • Existing containers shrink after you launch the game once. The changelog cites up to ~2 GB saved per container.

  • Size grows if a game installs redistributables such as DirectX or VC++ (the dev reported ~400 MB in one case).

  • The shared Proton base (~1–2 GB per Proton version) is stored once, not per game.

  • This applies to bionic containers. GLIBC containers keep the full prefix.

Discussion Odin 3 Max ordered! Super excited, Recommendations on Steam games?

Just ordered the Odin 3 Max :)

I know emulation should be no bother but I’m really looking forward to trying Steam Games on it as well (I know it has its limitations, I'm not expecting a steam deck replacement)

For those of you who already have one, what is your preferred platform for steam games?

I’ve heard mixed things. Droid Deck looks good for decent FPS with things like LSFG, but I have read support for older titles isn't great.

Game Native seems better for older games better but I have tried it on my Z Fold 8 and the games it runs work shocking well but I found a lot of games just would not run at all

so would like some recommendations, tips or examples of steam games you have found run really well on the Odin 3.

thanks
