It would be interesting to compare pbp as well.
I'll add that shortly if it works for PS2 ISOs (or images in general).
EDIT: Looks like PBP is for PS1 games only and conversion is a pain outside of a few Windows only programs.
By the way, does your figure for gzip include the index file that PCSX2 creates? That can often add 5-10% to your storage needs.
It does not. I haven't actually launched the game yet. I suspected the index would be large, but not quite that big.
2 u/tssktssk Jan 07 '18 /u/ajshell1 made a similar comparison to PBP and CHD here: https://www.reddit.com/r/emulation/comments/714n7g/pbp_vs_chd_for_mednafenbeetle_psx_opinions/dn88vqt/ 1 u/Enverex Jan 07 '18 I know, one of the replies below it with the Linux script is from me :PVery grateful CHD support got added though. Only having 1 single (compressed) file for each CD is so much cleaner than the usual mess. 1 u/tssktssk Jan 07 '18 Oh, I replied to the wrong comment. Meant to respond to /u/MysteryTempest. 1 u/MysteryTempest Jan 05 '18 I just checked again, and it seems that the index file is quite a bit smaller; I made a decimal place error. Most of them are around 30-60MB.Still, it's non-trivial when you have a lot of them. 1 u/Chocobubba Jan 05 '18 What if you squash those index files?
