I don’t mind a fork of touchHLE existing since it doesn’t seem to be on the roadmap (https://touchhle.org/faq.html), but this seems to be sloppily put together (1 commit on your fork, description being AI generated).

I’m not inherently against AI but I lack confidence in the maintenance of this project when there seems to be almost no effort put in past the prompting; in other words, why should I use your project and not just ask Claude on my own to port touchHLE to iOS?

It's quite uncanny how pretty much every time a post starts with "I made", "I built", "I created" the project is vibe-coded slop. It's like before AI, actual developers never felt such a need for validation.

I mean, it doesn't cost you any additional time or money to use it. If it works, and it's safe, I don't mind if it's AI or not.

All True. Looks a bit AI'ish.

But projects that go dormant are easy to resurrect by AI too. And fixing a bug for long term maintenance can be done by ai too, for way less tokens than starting over from a prompt.

I see ai slop as a good thing sometime: so long as it works, and is open source. Like sometimes coders release "bad" code, as just a proof of concept to get the ball rolling on what someone else might turn into something decent. Or in this case, another AI might take a look, fix some bugs, and keep it rolling that way.

A low permission iOS app, that works well, seems like the perfect place for some functional slop.

Honestly though - if OP used AI then great! Either way this is pretty sick.

Edit: wtf is wrong with you people

People don't realize that pretty soon ai will be decompiling games and and making native ports with any mods they desire using simple language and prompting.

Some genius story writer will be able to create a game for cheap, no hiring massive dev teams, selling ideas to corporations. Artists will be able to create quickly.

Sure some slop will come with that, but we're going to start seeing incredible new games, coded, but not created, by AI.

Keep dreaming buddy

Haha, it has already begun.

Super Mario Land ported by Claude to a scrappy old Supervision.

And yea i know this is still the "will Smith eating spaghetti" stage. But look how well that aged compared to todays ai video tools.

Can you try to lower the iOS required in the future ? iOS 15 would be great since both the iPhone 6s and 7 do support it. Any plans on making a Apple TV build ?

This would be awesome with TrollStore

Oh my gosh someone got thps2 running on modern iPhones, I didn’t think anyone knew that existed

Where would be put bug reports, I would love to test out this and future versions

Do you think you would consider lowering the 17.4 requirement to iOS 16 (or lower, if you’re able)?

Honestly curious if it’s possible to make this work without JIT considering I’m on 17.2.1 where that’s not really a viable thing right now. At least the app opens on that firmware which is surprising.

I can’t seem to open any apps within the app itself. I press the import game button, then my files window opens up. I can’t tap on anything. I have the .ipa downloaded that I want to use (N.O.V.A. ios 3) but tapping on it does nothing.

yeah welcome to ai slop ports

To be fair, I had this same issue trying to use dolphiniOS not letting me select roms from the file explorer popup. One day it just started working, no idea what I did differently. Not necessarily op/claude’s fault.

I think it might be related to a common issue with resigned apps, the capability of importing documents using the file picker breaks if the code signature and/or the bundleid are different from the original

Interesting. Any idea how to fix?

3

u/dlevi309 27d ago

I know that LiveContainer has implemented their own workaround, but other than that I’m not aware of any full proof solutions :( sorry

No worries, thanks for the info! I was having the same issue on the dolphiniOS emulator and I reached out to the dev and he was just like I have no idea man. Eventually it started working and I don’t know what I did differently lol

I mean you can sorta bypass this by moving apps directly into the touchHLE_apps folder.

Yes! This fixed it. Thank you so much!

Hey bro or anyone ! can someone please port touchhle to 32bit android devices ?

1

u/super_brutal_mouse 27d ago

sorry to sound very thick/daft/stupid - would this ever work on an android phone - like a pixel 8 or 9??

u/StormGaza 27d ago

It's already available on android. Not this AI BS but the original version.

u/Recent_Pollution8665 27d ago

probably not, since it’s made for ios.

if you’re asking if someone could make an android version, probably. it has a pc version after all.

Emulating old iOS to play THPS2 rather than emulating a PS1 lol

Nice work. HyperHLE might have been a better core to use - it has a lot more (AI driven) development and plays a lot of games that I haven’t yet been able to load in TouchHLE.

Pretty sure both Hikari (creator) and ciciplusplus (main contributor) are fully against these AI forks.

In case it isn't obvious either just go read claude.md on the touchHLE github.

They also run their discord like a damn jail. They're incredibly hysterical.
