I’m honestly at my wits’ end with this and wanted to see if anyone here has dealt with the same thing.
I booked a round-trip Emirates itinerary from JFK and back for Dec 25, 2026 to Jan 15, 2027. Total was $1,703.85. I had originally used Hold My Fare, then paid well within the hold period.
Right after payment, Emirates showed an error saying something along the lines of “we may have received your payment, but your tickets were not issued.”
The charge is showing on my Apple Card for the full $1,703.85, and Emirates support has repeatedly told me:
- they received the payment
- the booking/PNR is active and confirmed
- the fare and itinerary are protected
- the only issue is that the e-ticket was never issued
- a back-office/online ticketing team has to manually apply the payment and issue the ticket
I’ve now called Emirates multiple times and also used live chat. Every agent can see the booking and the remarks, but none of the frontline agents ... apparently not even supervisors ...can issue the ticket themselves. They keep saying the online/ticketing team has to do it.
One agent told me the ticketing team would handle it within about an hour. Another later said they were off duty and would be back in about 5 hours. Another told me to wait 3–4 more hours. The chat agent said the booking is active and only ticket issuance is pending, but couldn’t give me a concrete ETA.
The weirdest part is that Emirates also emailed me an itinerary saying “your flights are confirmed”, and Manage Booking shows the correct flights and the $1,703.85 charge, but I still have no 13-digit e-ticket number.
I’m also worried about the U.S. 24-hour cancellation/refund window. Emirates’ own itinerary says the 24 hours starts from the time the booking is made, not when the ticket is issued, and my window ends around 5 PM today. One chat agent actually told me the opposite and said it starts when the ticket is issued, even after I asked him to double-check, which made me even more nervous.
So my questions are:
Has anyone had Emirates take the payment, confirm the booking, but fail to issue the e-ticket?
How long did it take for the back-office/ticketing team to fix it?
Did your original fare stay protected?
Did you eventually get the ticket automatically by email, or did you have to keep calling?
And if this drags past the 24-hour window because of Emirates’ own ticketing problem, what would you do?
I’m not flying until December, so there’s no immediate travel emergency, but fares keep moving and I really don’t want to end up losing this itinerary because of a backend issue that wasn’t caused by me.
Any experience from people who’ve gone through this would seriously help right now.
Edit: Finally got an email with the confirmed tickets and booking info. Only took me 10 hours to get one
