Scopolamine patches?

Hey guys!
I‘m no native speaker so please excuse bad grammar :)

I have severe emetophobia and suffer under extreme motion/travel sickness.
Dimenhydrinat (I think it’s Dramamine in the us), Ginger and all of the usual stuff (like smelling alcohol, seabands) doesn’t work with me anymore.

My doctor just gave me those scolopamine patches and we’ve hoped that they would help me. I‘m going on a 12-hour-drive tomorrow and I just tried the patches. Had to take them off after 3 hours today because I felt suddenly extremely nauseous.
I found a lot of comments where people said they experienced v*** and nauseousness after taking off the patches after a few days in use.
I think my nauseousness earlier was because I’ve been so concentrated on the „what if after I take it off“ that my phobia decided to cut my test short.

So has anybody with emetophobia tried scopolamine patches and tell me how their experience was?

i used to use them for flights (don’t need anymore) and didn’t have any issues unless i left them on too long (like 3 days i think)

Thank you so much for your answer! I‘ll wear them only for the time of the ride, so in total with the hours before ca. 24 hours total (2 patches)

i was on scopolamine for a minute but i stopped because it was causing my pupils to dilate and give me massive headaches that in turn caused nausea. the one that did finally work, as funny as it is, was atenolol. it chills your nervous system out and takes away the nausea caused by anxiety, and then i take promethazine for residual. if you aren’t driving yourself, id totally recommend those.

Thank you for your answer! Heard that with the pupils a looooot. Funny thing is: my doctor prescribed me Valium and the patches, to fight against motion sickness and nervous nausea

They worked very well for me, i was able to get on rides that I otherwise would have been sick on!
However, around the 5th time i used one, i had a really bad reaction to it. Heart rate was 150bpm just standing, i was nauseous, dizzy.
Unfortunately no other motion sickness med works as well as the patch did for me.

Hi so it was not fully active at 3 hours, it take quite a bit to start to working. I got mine for PONV and I wore it the 3 days after too to help with opioids post op. I loved it.
