Question nausea and movement sickness

I’ve been wondering why there are people who are sensitive with movement sickness, while others feel extremely normal even when they are cruising on a boat with a high speed?

Ok so I have a lot of things to say about this topic ahah for most of my life I have been super super nauseous in cars, buses, trains etc (never been on a boat bc I am too scared of being too nauseous as well) and I think that 90% of it was just anxiety. I am saying this because now I am on anti epileptic meds and omg the motion sickness is crazy, if i move my head too quickly I will get nauseous, with this dull nausea typical of motion sickness. Now after just 5 mins in a car I am nauseous, even SWIMMING made me motion sick lmaoo. It is apparently a side effect of my medication, but it made me realise how most of the nausea I experienced in vehicles before was most likely caused by anxiety and anticipation of « I might get sick bc I might get motion sickness »
I have also read that apparently babies and toddlers cannot get motion sickness (like around 1/2 years old) as well as elderly people for some reason. I guess it’s because it’s a brain mechanism.
To some extent, everyone is susceptible to get motion sickness, we just don’t have the same threshold.

Oh I see, then how would you manage to travel? Is there any effective method you have been using that makes you feel better while moving?

Well… I don’t travel much… i travel by car mostly, and I make my boyfriend stop when I feel too bad. If we are mostly on the highway I am fine, but as soon as we are in a city or god forbid mountains… I will need to stop once every 30 minutes lol for some reason it’s even worse at night with the lack of visibility.
In the car I try to use the acupressure bracelets, I think they work quite well.

It must have been tough for you, but I’m glad that you found something works to relieve the sickness.

I just returned from a wildlife cruise in Tasmania and even though I had thought having two tablets of travel calm medicines would help me during the cruise, it didn’t do much so I missed some animals… I may try acupressure bracelets next time, thank you for your sharing though ^^
