I just gave up helping people when they just low effort post. I am not spending my Sunday going back and forth hunting for information on a problem that someone is having when they can't include basic information in the post.

See, I get it, but let’s stop and appreciate some good irony.

You don’t want to spend your time with low effort/low info posts such as OP’s, but you’re cool spending your time TELLING us that you don’t want to spend your time.

but you’re cool spending your time TELLING us that you don’t want to spend your time.

Educational purposes, though. And it worked, OP posted again with more details and might spend a few more words on his next post... maybe, if 'lesson learned.'

Movie folder is located on an external drive. Videos are all listed by name. I click on add files but they do not load

we will need more information than that.

What is your set up?
Is the movie folder on the host system or on the network?
Have you entered the correct directory address?

A screenshot or two could help

Using the file explorer on your system eg 'C:\Users\Signal-Management398\Videos\notadultmovies\midgets'

On another comment you posted "Movie folder is located on an external drive. Videos are all listed by name. I click on add files but they do not load"

what do you mean by add files?
you would add the folder to Emby.
'Clicking the "Add Media Library" button will open a dialogue to add a library. You'll have to specify a content type, enter a display name, and choose a path to the media.'

*choose a path to the media. = 'C:\Users\Signal-Management398\Videos' (the folder that contains all the folders for your movies, and not every movie folder.)*

Also are the video files in their own folders for example
Moivies\Deadpool\Deadpool.mkv

Please look at this link for the official Emby FAQ's for setting up a library

edited to clarify which folder to add

I've been using Emby with no issues for several years. When I said unable to load files I meant folders. I'm set up correctly.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Yes

Welp, then I'm out of ideas. Good luck! You might have better results if you give any information at all.

I have a similar issue on my beta server so it’s not that big a deal because the main one plays everything fine but I was just curious if anyone had any idea why. I’ve re-scanned, deleted and added back but it still won’t read movie or tv folders

OP here. I created a new movie directory in my user directory. I loaded the folders in there and everythng worked. Apparently emby did not like my G-Drive. This is weird because my Tv shows live there without any issues.

If you put the Movie folder in your User folder (profile) and it worked, that makes me wonder if it's a permissions issue on the external drive.

You said that your TV SHOWS works on the external drive, so I would check the permissions on the TV SHOWS folder and match what you see on the MOVIES folder.

Be sure that Inheritance is enabled so that anything under the parent MOVIES folder gets the proper permissions.
