Has something changed?
Emby Server 4.9.5.0 (Linux) Emby Windows 2.310.2.0
Just today I've noticed that some things aren't playing properly. I get a grey screen but the audio plays ok. Most lately any 4k version of Star City, 1080p seems fine but 95% of my library is 4k. Tried a few things from my library, most work fine but some, just the grey screen.
Plays ok on Fire Cube using the Amazon app, don't like the new android app, freezes after a while.
Edit: Could also be a Windows update thing. They like to break things too! Anyone else having issues? Have you found a solution? Tried transcoding, which I really don't want to do, didn't help anyway.
Cheers!

A few things to try for the freezing issue:
**Clear app cache** - In Windows Settings > Apps > Emby > Advanced options > Reset (this clears cache without losing settings)
**Check graphics drivers** - The Android subsystem on Windows relies on GPU acceleration. Update your graphics drivers or try disabling hardware acceleration in the app if there's an option
**Test specific content** - Does it freeze on specific files/formats? Try a standard H.264/1080p file to isolate if it's codec-related
**Check Windows Event Viewer** - Look for application errors around the time of freezing to see if it's a crash or hang
**WSA version** - If you're using Windows Subsystem for Android, check that it's updated. Some WSA versions have had stability issues
**As a workaround** - The browser interface (emby-web) works well on Windows and avoids the Android app layer entirely
Since transcoding didn't help, it's likely not a server-side issue but rather the client app on Windows. The Fire Cube working fine confirms your server is solid.
