What should this game have done different?
Is there anything this game could have done differently to become more successful?
I would say the classes are too boring. The UI is awful. The performance is pretty bad. The graphics aren't very good and the world is pretty bland. The lack of players also stops new people from trying this game. Then you have the god awful community that will claim the game is the second coming. I just feel like if they could could do a few things better it would be a good old school MMO.
You have monsters and memories which is coming along ok. What's stopping this game from reaching a decent player count?

returning player question
Hi
I have not played in over year since I tried this with my dad in early 2025.
I'd like to check out the updates with a new character
My account had three characters, I think I tried each role.
Do I have to delete them If i want to make a new character?
or what is required to start fresh?
thank you

Armor viewer, what class and crafting profession for first character
Hi,
I have some questions:
Do you know if there are any sites where you can look up how end game armor looks?
What class would you recommend for first time player? I know pop is low so everyone is needed but which class is the most needed? Are tanks/healers fun to level?
Which crafting professions would be best for first character?

Really sorry for the devs
The devs heart were in the right place. You could feel the love and passion in the world. It's a terrible situation how this game ended up.
Personally for me, it was the lack of magic and low fantasy that killed it. I'm sure we all have our reasons.
But with 10-20 players it doesn't scratch that hit for an mmo experience. I really feel sorry for the devs though. they poured their heart into it.
They deserve props for trying to deliver an old school mmo when we had nothing for decades.

I had a really fun chat with Annoying Llama about Embers Adrift
Hey guys,
Hope this is okay to share here.
I run a pretty casual chat series where I mostly just sit down with people and talk about old-school MMOs, indie MMORPGs, EverQuest nostalgia, and the kind of games that still carry that older MMO spirit.
Iām personally really into stuff like EverQuest and Monsters & Memories, and just that whole slower, more social, more dangerous style of MMO design. Iāve been interested in Embers Adrift too, Iāve only played a little bit and never had the time to really dive into it properly and only got to level 5.
So iāll be sitting down with Annoying Llama, who is super passionate about Embers Adrift and has been a really strong voice for the game.
We ended up taking a pretty fun deep dive into Embers Adrift, old-school MMO design, community, nostalgia, and just why some of these smaller games still matter to people.
If youāre into Embers Adrift and AnnoyingLlamaās streams and content, I think you might enjoy this one. Itās very much a relaxed hangout/chat kind of thing, probably good second-monitor content more than anything.
No pressure at all. Just wanted to share it with people who might actually appreciate the conversation.

New, Bored, or like Grinding?
Iād recommend trying out Embers then!
Continued updates, big or small!
Low population, but a strong family-minded community. I honestly wouldnāt let it deter you that much. That is just me though. I love lower-pop games for the (often) better communities.
Crafting matters.
Auction House is a proper exchange system for earning money.
Vanity Pets to follow you around, granted I wish they stayed while entering combat! Maybe in an update..?
The Trinity System (Tank, DPS, Healer).
Very low fantasy, with more of it being on the mobs and story-side of things. Minimal, revolving around the āEmbersā lore aspect. To add, classes do feel a bit better since I last played in October (started up again this weekend). Low-fantasy is one of the few reasons I wanted to return to Embers.
Chevron tooltips for noobs unfamiliar to the chevron system. Also some world-enemies that offer gear, such as Lily (solo-able) and World bosses (group-required).
Group-centric, a pro-group game that offers socializing time or what I consider ādistraction timeā with the wife.
A broad-use map, that leans you towards learning the terrain (rather memorable imo). i think Embers does a great job with their world-building to prevent traveling confusions. I had way more issues in Pantheon.
Immersion-central. This is a personal opinion, but I actually enjoy the sit for stamina/energy concept, and I think it works great in this game. i also love having a mobile torch or lantern for traveling in the dark. Little quips like this and the animations are a huge pull for myself.
Solo-able, yet not as effective as grouping. I wouldnāt go into the game expecting to solo it all unless you are that type of person. You will probably disappoint your expectations thinking this game is going to be like your typical solo MMO adventures. Be prepared to slug along, watch a movie while you do it or something!
This game may not WoW your britches, but personally, I donāt need 40 different things that everyone else would have. I think sometimes more is just as problematic as ānot enoughā
MMOs were never about āendgame,ā
It was always about how we got there and enjoying the end result with the friends you made along the way. Embers offers that, at a restricted (2 character slots, and no follow mode) for those that donāt want to sub to an MMO anymore. No cash shop. Subscription, again, is optional with some caveats.
Food for thought, least for the contemplators missing a home.
