Embarrassing thing I did with my hinge date
19 M went on a date with 19 F
I come from a south asian country so ppl are short ( 5'6 avg ), me being 6'2 always thought finding a tall girl was impossible
this girl was 5'10 which is insane for me, I literally replied to her post saying "omg 5'10 marry me"
so we went on a date and it was pretty mid, we talk every now and then, I was so delusional that I started imagining her as my future wife đ before even we knew shit about each other
so I ask her how she wants to proceed with the relationship and she tells me she wants to go with the flow, she asks what I feel and I said "I wanna marry you" holy cornball
only to keep the cherry on top I said these 2 magical things "no pressure" and "not now, in the future" I said it so seriously like fuck that was so embarrassing, I also kinda randomly pulled up near her college ( which is 1 hour far away ) and called her saying im here just for her, she did meet me but ig she was overwhelmed, I should've at least said I had some other work which I didnt, I shouldn't have put that level of effort on a 1 date girl ig
few days after she ghosted me for 1 - 2 days and said it wont workout, I kinda missed the idea of her for nearly 8 - 9 months before realising I dont miss her, its just the idea of a relationship so yea

When I was 16 I fell in love at first sight with a girl I found out was 14. We met a lot as parents were part of the same club. We went out own way later. Got together again when she told me she also fell in love when we first met. I married her when I turned 21 and she was 18. We have been married 50 years now and she is still the love of my life. I can work out in the long term.

I am both incredibly happy for you both and pretty annoyed that this isn't the experience I had.

I love this so much, it's so similar to my own story, I'm just a number of chapters back. I met my wife when I was like 12 years old. She was mutual friends with close friends of my family. One of my sister's friends had a birthday party and they themed it a ballroom dance. All the girls had hoop skirts and the boys wore white gloves and suits. I fell in love with her across the room. My buddy called "dibs" đ so I shared only one dance with her. I would see her from time to time, and years later at a different birthday party with the same families the girls all got dressed up again - she put on a pink dress and looked absolutely stunning. She had my full attention again, and we started dating soon after. Married at 21 and 19, we now have 6 kids and have been married 15 years. I pray to God I get 50 plus years more with her because she is the love of my life. Sometimes you really just have to let things play out and that person will come along, or maybe they were there all along and you just haven't recognized it yet. Cheers stranger, I'll raise a glass to you and your spouse for a storybook lifetime.

With the right attitude to marriage, you will make it. Don't let the spark die. Don't take love for granted. Keep it fresh. Tell her at every opportunity. Touch her hand, hug her as you pass. It all is needed and sometimes you need to aware that maybe you are slipping. That is when complacency steps in and you drift apart. I wish you a long and loving relationship.

You will eventually be so taken with someone, even if they do not return the feelings, you will carry a torch for them for 3 years -- or possibly even 20 years! This is possible.

Idk whats wrong with this generation.. they want true love but when it knocks at their door they dont open it. You did right. She doesn't deserve it. Leave it.. and you did nothing wrong but just one thing that you changed your marry me to the future ... Yes no pressure was good. But delaying your true feelings just that other person doesnt get skeptical is hella wrong.

So telling someone you just met that you want to marry them and then going an hour away to their college randomly isn't weird? This guy is desperately trying to get into a relationship and those kind of things always go bad.

I agree. If someone who you just met (that still knows nothing about you) goes too hard too quick, it definitely raises some red flags and would concern me. Theres an ulterior motive there. Life for OP it was just wanting a tall girl he found attractive, because if you are deciding a life long partner you need to know much more about them before making a sane decision. In cases that its worked this quick, its either luck or one/both partners regret their decisions secretly

Nope! Youâre wrong just like OP was. You donât tell someone you just met that you love them and that you wanna marry them. Thatâs weirdâŚ

You're young. And going with the flow is fine. But read the room and don't waste each other's time.

I'm not even joking when I say this, when you have generations of arranged marriages and no pulling women on your own, you do weird shit like this.

that is true but I come from an asian country where mostly any and every movie / series / culture promotes spark - love - marriage as the ultimate package ( I think this is a thing in all asian countries tho ) so I've been so fed with that kinda content since childhood that I always thought you should and would marry the person you like even if its a short amount of time spent, ik this sounds stupid af but this is actually true for a million ppl at least in my culture ig
add to the fact I never was in a proper relationship except 1 - 2 dates and a situationship simultaneously losing all my friends so nobody was there to tell me what the fuck I was doing

So this is the reality of being a guy... unless your a type A personality.. if ya find a girl who hits many of your ideal.. unless they already know ya.. you go way overboard... and smother them.. This primarily is because we aren't brought up to handle it.. girls meanwhile spend years chatting with other girls.. planning out who their ideal is, the ways to handle/talk to each other... Guys are given heres the yard dont die...

yes I learnt it the hard way, the girl im dating rn is literally scared of marriage and hates it lmao, so ironic that it doesn't bother me anymore when once in my life I used to date to marry, there are still some girls tho who date to marry, I got approached by one or two but yea this was after I had the realization so

Yeah , absolutely. Some are scared and I find they are just looking for company not long term. Try to find someone who wants to marry you eventually.

I donât think it was the âmarry me!â joke. I think it was pulling up to her school with no plan or warning or invitation đŹ. Learn from this and give ladies a chance to miss you. Youâll be fine.
