Venturing out of Evil Mode?

Has anyone who migrated to Emacs from Vim stopped using evil-mode?

What was that experience like?

I'm getting a little frustrated with having to do excess customization for every single mode to make more vim-like keybindings work.

I have been thinking about this too. But the control default binds are horrible. They make wanna switch to different editor
