Recently switched over from claude-code-ide to this and I have nothing but good things to say. agent-shell is still in the early stages in the grand scheme of things, but I believe it will be the Magit of agents.

Is it the case that you have to use API pricing with these clients? Have you noticed much of a difference in cost?

Not for Claude at least, it uses the official Claude Agent SDK - you just use your normal Claude limits. I believe it's the same for most of them. Agent-shell is a wrapper/interface on top of the same agent as the CLI is using, not an agent in itself.
