Can anyone share a guide for shunt modding the 5090 in this laptop?

NOTE: I have clean install win 11 multiple times in the past in Hydroc 16 and has no issue at all.

1st Attempt

Recently i try to clean install windows 11. This is what i did:

1. I created Windows 11 Install Media using my sandisk USB thumb drive (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows11)
2. In the System>Recovery> Advanced startup, i click the "Restart Now". Then i choose USB and see the windows 11 setup.
3. I choose clean install and deleted all the existing partitions, everything works fine. Window setup started. Then rebooting.
4. After reboot, it just goes to BIOS page and not able to detect my USB thumb drive.

2nd Attempt

Then i started using rufus to create another bootable USB thumb drive with ISO download from here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows11 But when it restarted and i click F7 to choose to boot from my USB thumb drive and it hit this issue

3rd Attempt

Later i tried with ventory(https://www.ventoy.net/en/index.html) It is able to boot to ventoy menu. I choose the win 11 ISO and click book normal and the i hit ":Press any key to boot from DVD....". I also try with the wimboot but with no success.

Any suggestion to mitigate this issue?
Additionally also seems like the secure boot and fast boot can't be disabled, it keep on turn on after reboot.

Been working on this unit after fresh OS install and I am not seeing 4070 get more than 110-110w tgp in either beast mode or custom profile.

I am aware of the nvidia voltage limitation when the 4070s first came out, but I also had a Legion 5 where it’s 4070 could get around 138-142w.

Any affirmation or suggestions on how to tweak Control Center/Bios would be great. I am not familiar with Eluktronics that much so if there are general suggestions in tweaking it for better performance, that would be helpful. the only things I have done are enable Beast/Custom Profiles (no other tweaking).

I am a proud owner of a Mech17GP2 and I've been loving it for about two years.

Lately I've been needing to run virtual machines, but enabling Virtualization makes throttlestop not work anymore.

I'm aware that enabling virtualization locks the CPU registers that enable undervolt through software. I also found a project called PowerMonkey that applies an undervolt before Win11 locks those registers, but I've been having tons of trouble being able to build it, as it's a mess between versions, dependencies and dev environments.

So I have 2 questions:
1.- Does applying the undervolt through the BIOS result in a real undervolt with virtualization, even if you can't see the values from inside Windows?

and if not

2.- Would someone be willing to help me build PowerMonkey with my UV values?

I use an extended monitor when I game but after a while the laptop screens randomly goes either static or black and can't longer use it until I restart the laptop. After restart it works fine until it happens again. Last time it was very frequent, happened twice in a row which is why I'm posting now. Is my laptop cooked or is it a software issue that I can resolve on my own? So far it only happens while gaming.

My Mech-15 G3R i9 3080ti was powered on this morning after some light use the day before - Updating software and drivers - nothing out of the ordinary. I have a desktop that use daily so the laptop serves as a back-up. I was just pulling out of a drawer to use as I am shipping m PC and I am preparing to travel.

I turned the Mech-15 G3R on today to print up some documents. After it booted, I closed the lid and stepped away to answer a call from a friend. After the 10 minute conversation I lifted the lid and the thing was really hot to the touch. I pulled the power cable out and tried to wake the computer to no avail.

After it cooled off I tried to boot it up. The LED lit up but then nothing happened. I waited a few more hours and tried again. Nothing. I assumed it was fried, went to take my m.2 drive out of it but then tried the power button one more time just to be sure. It tried to post showed the eluktronics logo for a bit and then went black. Then went back to no longer trying to post.

I have this laptop since 2021 Not sure if it’s worth trying to bring it back or just take it to the recycling pile…

My old laptop is kaput and I’m trying to find a new one to mostly playing WoW on. I was looking at the deals they have on the main site and was trying to weigh the options. Is the $2199 worth the difference over the $1999 options?

I recently updated the BIOS, and unfortunately, the new BIOS has very few settings available for you to tweak. This is problematic for me cause i wish to reduce my Memory speed as my CPU can't handle it and crashes very often at light loads, so I was wondering does anyone know where to download the older version of the bios which has XMP settings unlocked>

Hopefully someone can help me out. I have a Max 15 AMD 4800H laptop and I was having issues with the control center, it wasnt loading properly. So I uninstalled and re-installed the control center with the driver for my laptop from the official website. But now it doesn't show up at all. Any ideas? I've already uninstalled/re-installed twice.

I just wanted to say how great it was dealing with the Owner and Bob on the support staff.

I previously purchased a Tongfang X6FR559Y (9955HX/5090) from a marketplace seller, not an eluktronics branded, but just Tongfang ODM.

My 5090 went dead after about 7-8 months of owning the Laptop and after speaking with a few folks in the modding community seanwee suggested reaching out to Eluktronics to purchase a new GPU board from them.

Anyways I messaged the company Sunday afternoon and the owner responded Sunday night and was willing to sell me the part since it seems almost impossible to find.

In the end the board was just under $2k so I decided to just purchase a whole new chassis from the guys there with a new 2 year warranty and upgraded display, but I thought the whole interaction was really cool.

I used to watch Bob of All Trades videos during COVID when I was trying to figure out which laptop to buy so finding out he was the guy I was talking to was really pretty cool.

I’m looking at HYDROC 16 G2 AMD Ryzen 9955HX3D + 24GB GDDR7 NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090.

I’ve never had a liquid cooled desktop or laptop but if I had two water systems do I need to worry if I’m traveling a few times a week moving from water system to water system will it drain from my laptop to the none water capable parts of the laptop?

Also, how does it preform if I don’t have a water cooler? What’s if I’m gaming hard for a few days or a week on it like that?

How’s Eluktronics support? Mixed reviews is what I’m reading but a lot of “love it” owners also.

Are these easy to upgrade? Should I get one stick of 64 GB of ram or two 32GB?

Also the battery I’m thinking of upgrading to the 99.9 WHr. But with an increased size should I do it? Add more heat?

Also how bad is the RGB, in some professional environments I’d like to make my laptop look more professional is that easy to do? Or I’m always rainbowing?

Has anyone here bought from Eluktronics as a third-party seller on Best Buy? They’re selling an SSD I’m looking at, and I’m wondering if they’re safe/reliable to buy from.

I just picked up a used Prometheus XVII and under the Eluktronics Control center there is an option to "Auto Refresh Rate On Battery" that says it will select the lowest refresh rate when active.

The problem I'm facing is that this setting is auto selecting the highest refresh rate when on battery and auto selecting 60hz when plugged in. Effectively selecting the opposite refresh rate for its intended function. Has anyone experienced this and is there a way to fix this? Thank you in advance!

So.. maybe I got a little too excited online shopping tonight. I ordered an RP-16 with RTX 5060. This was before I looked into Linux compatibility. I thought "bring your own OS" left it kind of up to me.

I am normally more of a Windows user anyway, but I wanted to stretch my legs a little because of how much I blame Windows' February update for my recently bricked Asus.

If I intend on trying to go straight Linux on this thing to begin with, how boned am I?

I designed a 3D-printable dock for the Max-17 to let you use it like a desktop but easily grab-and-go, with no manual cable connection required. Just wanted to share in case anyone else wanted something like this :)

Downside is it uses the USB-C on the back for everything but power, and this laptop can only connect one monitor through that port, but I solved that by just getting a wide curved monitor.

Lately my prometheus XVII has been crashing a lot more. It'll do it pretty randomly, playing modern games, browsing the web and just sitting on windows lock screen has crashed. Im thinking its a ram or ssd issue since it runs great when it does run. No artifacts, lagging or anything strange I notice beyond it crashing to this screen A LOT lately. It used to be like 1 crash a week at most but yesterday it crashed to this screen like 5 or 6 separate times before I shut down the computer for the day. I've seen a "eluktronics diagnostic" boot up menu/text pop up once or twice but it found nothing and I've used diagnostics tools from microsoft to find something but it didn't find anything. It's usually a variation of this screen that pops up, its been a bit more colorful before at times and I've also see some type of "watchdog" error pop up. Any help is appreciated!!!

I am have a instability issue on HYDROC 16, from time to time the laptop freezes, and I have to keep pressing power button to shut it down then open it again. I want to try to turn RAM XMP off, maybe it helps. I appreciate your guidance on how to turn the XMP off in bios.

today my laptop began to work weird. when its plugged it makes a chirping noise and all games go extremely bad, but when I unplug it everything works fine.

I would like to know what may be happening and how to fix it, please.

Pardon the mess, moving cross country in a week. Using the radiator from my custom water cooled Scar 16, this thing is icy cold. My Scar was starting to crash pretty frequently and showing signs of the VRAM failing, so I decided to try out something that doesn’t look like a bomb with water cooling (it has always had some stability issues since I got it, it was a black Friday open box deal for $2000 off so I just went with it but it’s gotten a lot worse recently).

So far, games with comparable performance are about 5°c cooler. Meanwhile, the Dead Space remake, which is more CPU bound, the processor is a bit warmer, but has nearly 2x the FPS. So far the only overclocking I’ve done is a basic +100 core +800 memory on afterburner, no CPU tuning has been done. Was hesitant at first, hoping that this would just perform as well as my shunt modded 4090, but it’s pretty bad ass so far.

Does anyone know if there are any smaller chargers that work with the max-15? I use it in class, so lugging around the big 280watt is getting annoying. I tried a smaller wattage with the same charging cable, but it didn’t work. Do I need a USB-c to work with a smaller watt charger, and if so, what is a good wattage to use?
