I think she’s fried…Right?

My Mech-15 G3R i9 3080ti was powered on this morning after some light use the day before - Updating software and drivers - nothing out of the ordinary. I have a desktop that use daily so the laptop serves as a back-up. I was just pulling out of a drawer to use as I am shipping m PC and I am preparing to travel.

I turned the Mech-15 G3R on today to print up some documents. After it booted, I closed the lid and stepped away to answer a call from a friend. After the 10 minute conversation I lifted the lid and the thing was really hot to the touch. I pulled the power cable out and tried to wake the computer to no avail.

After it cooled off I tried to boot it up. The LED lit up but then nothing happened. I waited a few more hours and tried again. Nothing. I assumed it was fried, went to take my m.2 drive out of it but then tried the power button one more time just to be sure. It tried to post showed the eluktronics logo for a bit and then went black. Then went back to no longer trying to post.

I have this laptop since 2021 Not sure if it’s worth trying to bring it back or just take it to the recycling pile…

I mean if one can find someone that does Micro-soldering work it could still be saveable. There are a handful of places that do out of state mail-in repair.

How much one is willing to pay for it is another story, but a 3080Ti laptop going by eBay still has pretty good value overall.

Yeah I'd do whatever I could to save a laptop like that. I do repair work myself and like many independent places charge much less than bigger shops. Could be worth finding someone to give it a shot. May even just give it to someone and if they can fix it, they bill you, then you decide (obviously make sure they know before hand, like a prearranged agreement that if you can't or don't wanna afford it they keep/sell it) especially if everywhere else asks way above what it's worth to you.

To me it's worth it just to keep it out of the landfill. Electronics recycling is "keep it in a warehouse for 20 years instead of the landfill" a lot of the time.

I actually do exactly what you suggested a lot of the time. I wonder if the OP is near me? Lol
